Dragon Age: Origins

Ion Cannon!'s Photo Ion Cannon! 04 Nov 2009

This is the latest RPG from masters Bioware, the main difference however is that this isn't set in Faerun. Its a completely new world, complete with a rich tapestry of culture and history. When this game was first announced, Bioware called it their lovechild, this sparked my interest and since then i've been following the games development.

Having now read multiple reviews for it, this sounds like a must have for any RPG fan. If you want to see some tasters, steam has a collection of promotion videos.
It also doesn't sound like a game I will complete in one week, its 100+ hours and thats for one rough run through of the game. Its a dark, hard, long and intelligent game and i'm ordering it right now, anyone care to join me?

I've heard the Xbox version is inferior to the PC version. Both in terms of graphics and because you lack the use of a mouse.

I'm getting it for my PS3. I saw this game about a month ago, and it looks pretty good, so I'll be getting it.

Even better, it comes with a level / world builder. I can't wait, its pre-loaded now so Nov 6th can't come fast enough.

Needless to say my brother is FAR more interested in the game than I am, and he wants it on the XBox. I don't want to get two copies of the same game. Either way, the Xbox graphics are still excellent. And I found that Mass Effect while better with a mouse was still playable on the Xbox.

I'm just going from what i've read on reviews. Guess it makes sense to get it on xbox then.

Definitely going to get this game; it seems great from everything I've seen and it's supposed to be even better from the reviews and feedback I've heard.

TODAY is the BIG day for me (atleast), preordered Digital Deluxe Edition from Steam, and now im at the moment decrypting it for me to enjoy.
And, for your little fight for that if Xbox version is inferior; usually they are, but i played it on Xbox on when i was on DIGIEXPO in Helsinki, it didnt seem to be much different from PC version, well graphics were little lower which wasn't suprise. But i only played it about 5-10 mins (time goes fast when having fun 8| ) If someone asks me which one to buy, i'd say PC but if someone wants to buy it to another console, who's gona stop you?
And if you love RPG's, this really is a must buy, and even if you don't like it, support Bioware by buying it. :xD:

I have to wait another 24hours, once i'm done with the official campaign - including several different run throughs ; i'm looking forward to seeing what the community can come up with. The community creations for NWN1 and 2 where nothing short of amazing, well some anyway.

I know exactly how you feel, Ion. I just played the game for six hour straight yesterday, then looked at my window and noticed it wasn't afternoon anymore.

Best game I've played in awhile now.

You had the same problem as i: started playing, and when next time looked at clock; aw hell, already 11.00pm and my work starts at 5.30am.
So a little warning before playing: put a clock in front of you to see sometimes by accidentally what time is it if you need to go somewhere sometimes. :)

Deep roads are so awesome, and so huge... and it says i'm only 12% through :s

Magma's Photo Magma 07 Nov 2009

I've read it takes about 50 hours to play it through WITHOUT sidequests, and 80 hours with them, i really hope thats true... so it takes 480 hours to play all 6 "Origins".
which is enough for me. but then again, if you want more versions of gameplay, change your "main" companions; which you most likely keep with you through one gameplay session. What i meant was that you play like as an Mage, and you keep 2 warriors and a rogue, and when you complete with that character, you start playing as an Rogue and keep 1 warrior, 1 mage and 1 rogue. (every companion has their own will, likes and dislikes)
i really like seeing Morrigan and Alistair to play their little quarrel about templars and "runaway mages".
Right now im playing with Dalish Rogue Elf and i've noticed that which origins you've chosen, changes lots of things ingame which is truly a great thing (I've tried little bit of Elf Mage). And "messing" with your companions emotions gives sometimes funny, lovely, scary and jawbreaking events.
Bioware needs to make more this kind of games, or perhaps even a DA II which is a unlikely what i've heard, but we'll see about that. :D

Have fun with Brecillian Forests and all that, but don't leave the Forests without the Juggernaut Armor set.

This is by far my most favorite Bioware game. The gameplays awesome the characters are amazing and the blood is pretty awesome as well. the finishers etc. LOVE the story and how everythings a little more new then you'd expect. Party members are sweet as well, like Sten and Wynne or my favorite Allistare.

Also, Wynne is your best friend and will prevent you from destroying your loved ones in fits of rage.

Played a few hours as mage, not bad game at all but it could be better if it had main character talking just like in Mass Effect, but still story is good and gameplay is finer than most RPG's :)
