It's certainly interesting. Don't know if I like it quite yet though.
On the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time that Youtube has changed formats. Maybe this one will be more positive....maybe.

I like it. It feels like it's in sync with Google's rebranding to fit in more with Google+

I'm glad they let you pick which one you want to use, they have said they aren't discontinuing the old style.

Looks great, nice n simple, the player looks a hell of a lot better, also loving that I can now make the video large enough to hide the moronic comments and related videos.
