Allow me to explain, gentlemen.


Braid as an FPS.

From what I see, each player starts off with one guy and moves up by one at the end of each round. There'd presumably be a planning period where their strategy is done. When one of the player's units is required to do more than one task at once due to something not going according to plan, they become unlinked. In the final round the players are able to join the battle, and likely turn the tide.

This would make for the best FPS/RTS hybrid game ever. Up until the final round, it's a battle of wits where you're required to memorize the pattern of the other player's turn in order to defeat him.
