Well there have been quite a few tutorial requests lately, and I'm getting sick of moving 'em, so request your tutorials here :wtf:

Before you request:

  • Make sure the tutorial you want, hasn't already been posted
  • Make sure it hasn't been requested before
  • Don't be too vague or too specific with your request (if you want to know something specific, just ask a question in the appropriate modding section)

Request away!

i have a small list, only 3.

i would like to know how to make an upgrade like the confessor for the NOD rocket and rifle squads, only using a zone trooper for the GDI units.

but would also like to know in general, how to make an upgrade.

i want to know how to make a special power, i was trying to give NOD a 2nd tib seed power with blue Tib, but it never worked.

this one i mostly want to know more than the others, i dont want to change the old one, i want NOD to have 2 of them

i would like to be able to make a weapon that would make a Tib field grow faster but only by a % at a time per shot, example for template, mother ship weapon.

What tutorial are you looking for (for ZH modding)? because there is no ultimate topic that tells you everything about modding ZH.

Don't forget to check out our ZH Tutorial Section to see if there is anything in there that can help you.

As for RA3 modding, you will have to wait for the mod SDK, like the rest of us 8|

THey use existing enums.
an emum isn't tied to a super power, you could use the carpet bomb one for a nuke and it would still work.

an enum is like a max power list, because a player can't use 2 powers shareing the same enum.

All you do is change the enum parameter.

Because there is already another player power using that enum for that particular faction.

i went through and tried most of the different enum that the GLA didn't use and yet none of them worked. so i dont JJ.
SpecialPower SuperweaponAnthraxMissileSilo
  Enum                    = SPECIAL_DAISY_CUTTER
  ReloadTime              = 0   ; in milliseconds. min is 2x door/open close time!
;InitiateSound = AirRaidSiren ; plays at source
  InitiateAtLocationSound = AirRaidSiren  ; plays at target;
  PublicTimer             = Yes
  ViewObjectDuration      = 40000
  ViewObjectRange         = 250
  RadiusCursorRadius      = 210
  ShortcutPower = No ;Capable of being fired by the side-bar shortcut.
  AcademyClassify = ACT_SUPERPOWER ;Considered a powerful special power that a player could fire. Not for simpler unit based powers.
End

Ok,I'm pretty new here(I'm from PPM - alongside with Destiny and Dutchygamer,as far as I see) and I'm a guy who works with 3dsmax.

Now,what I'm asking for is a tut. for the texturing part - not how to add textures,but how to make enough low quality texture for a model.

I mean,I look at the textures for Rise of the Reds and they look rather very similar to the original ones - any tip on how to make them look so low quality,yet still look good?Or do you guys use existing textures from Gen. and use them in your models?

This might help you.

The key to it, I have discovered in my limited time skinning, is colour variation. Why did C&C All Stars had such bad looking models? The weren't any variety in colour. Also, the burn tool is very useful in making mud around the treads, soot around the engine exhaust, and generally most "dirty" effects.

Also, use the dodge tool to lighten up areas, and just generally look over and over skins until u see patterns emerging in what is used in where.

And something that no-one seems to point out, benevel and emboss is the most useful blending option ever when it comes to ZH skinning.

Try it out by making a simple square -> right click the layer-> blending options-> benevel and emboss with these settings:
Posted Image
and there you have it, a sheet of armour plating or whatever. Try it with just a single pixel with a pencil tool but the emboss set to outer instead and there you have a screw. Do it with a circle instead and you have a hatch. You'll see its used in all ZH skins. Remeber to set the layer FILL (not opacity) to 0% so it will blend with ur base texture.

TBH Pav3d, based on some of your recent work, you really should make a few skinning tutorials. Bob's is good, but it never hurts to have more. Our modding tutorials are older than 50% of the members.
