Is it me or is any sign of nudity in any film the cardinal sin, where as violence almost the opposite. Almost all films I've ever seen (UK) theres been violence involved, take for example the spideman films, where spiderman is hitting the robber, then shoves him through a window to fall to his death.

Note: I dont go to see films for nudity, I have the internet for that, but violence is rife (at least in the UK).

Anyone else found this to be the case? (Nudity being worse than violence)

This is due to a common difference between different cultures. You will find that most of mainland Europe is quite lenient on nudity however the States is more lenient on violence.

Luckily over here in the NL we have censorship on neither, and the media are lenient on both. So neither is really considered "worse" than the other, generally speaking.

Its just the UK that is like that, as others have mentioned nudity is much less frowned upon than it is in the UK in countries like france. Odds are, if you go on holiday in france and find a nice beach a large portion of the females will be topless.

Its a shame its the way it is in the UK. Violence should be much worse, nudity is just who we really are.

i prefer nudity 8|

no seriously, in germany its kinda strange.
in TV ect nudity is absolutely tolerated (e.g. naked boobs in commercials in the afternoon), and violence pretty much too (well some of the hard stuff gets cuz out).
on the other side, in video games (dunno much about nudity there) violence and similar stuff is censored behind any commonsense.
(very popular is green blood instead of red)

e.g. the german version of ZH, where inf are cyborgs, and the suicide bombers are bombs on wheels. and the toxin is acid, as if that´d be any less violent... >_>

Sorry pal, but is this the same Germany we're talking about? As far as violence is concerned, there's _quite_ a lot of censoring going on on TV. Heck, they even cut the legendary 007 one-liners in the newer Bond movies because 'OMG violence is not funny'. Some movies like Commando, Predator or The Thing are absolutely unwatchable by now. Sure, these films are actually pretty violent but instead of taking a shit all over the work of film-makers and actors by carving up their movies, they might as well not show these films on TV in the first place. As for nudity, yes, that's where we are much more liberal than most countries although it's often a little too much for my taste. Our afternoon programmes are already brimfull of all sorts of questionable trends, idiots and wastefulness but they have to throw some tits into the mix to make it even more shallow because 'sex sells'. Plus, I'm also pissed off by those pathetic porno hotline commercials; it's after 11PM, I'm watching some violent but censored action movie on TV minding my own business and suddenly BANG a commercial break, the volume goes way up and there's some naked bint squatting on the TV screen because she didn't have the benefits of an intellectual education. What kind of pathetic lowlife needs these hotlines anyway? If they haven't got anything decent to show at night, give me the fucking test pattern; I haven't seen that one since donkeys. That's so annoying and these breaks go on for like 8 minutes and the only way to avoid them is to switch over to the boring public channels where old farts talk about how they want to ban 'killergames' which, in the light of topical events, leads us back to violence......

Living in Australia there is more of a trend to see nudity as a more taboo theme than violence, but only by a small amount, it is usually the "anything goes past 8:30 pm rule". It is most likely the idea that the violence we see on TV is simulated and at times entertaining and not aggressive. a child doesn't tend to ask mum or dad "why did batman punch the robber?" where as if a child saw a naked woman or man they would tend to ask things, it is also because they don't fake nudity on TV which makes the theme much more real. Roger Egbert(American and internationally recognized movie critic) mentioned in America gratuitous violence will attract an M (mature rating) where as the rare use of lesser swear words e.g. d*ckhead will attract the same rating. Just an insight into some very flawed systems.

Easy answer: The violence you see in films isn't real, the nudity is.

Well, my opinion is that it's better to protect kids from violence than from nudity. The only thing that will happen if you keep kids away from nudity, is that they'll do stupid things, like have sex unprotected.

Besides, censoring is stupid anyway. Free information for all. It's the job of parents to teach kids how to deal with information. Parents shouldn't be dependant on the entertainment business to teach their kids what to do.

Parents like that are bad parents, and should be put in a car together with Jack Thompson along with "a GTA killer-kid".

Agreed, but even then there are certain things that a child's mind isn't ready to take in. For example, you're not going to show a 6 year old Kill Bill and then explain how to take it in.

Well, I guess that's a bit common sense there. Once a kid becomes a teenager, the kid is ready for the real world under supervision of the parents.

Violence and Nudity issue proves our countries not ruled by their current political leaders but something predates them, you know what it is...

Youtube just fails too much on that, you can't possibly see pornographic scene but there is tons of bloodbath going on over there ... I condemn humanity's logic.
