Even if someone was so hell-bent on attacking someone, he could just sharpen down the rounded knives to a point anyway.

Hence this entire argument is void, if someone wants a point, they'll get it.

This, and I use the point for opening cans, bottles, cereal boxes, and packages of yogurt. Why would a knife company make a specific pointed knife when any knife can have all these uses? It's simply more useful to the customer.

This is like asking why nails aren't flat, and they aren't because it would destroy what makes them useful.

plus soemtimes you need the point for cutting plastic or tape, and without the point, it would be impossible to get the knife under something you need to cut vertically

Technically the edge suffices for cutting tape.

knives have a point because it makes them look cooler.

Can't think of any other reasons...

Quote

As long as the dark foundation of our nature, grim in its all-encompassing egoism, mad in its drive to make that egoism into reality, to devour everything and to define everything by itself, as long as that foundation is visible, as long as this truly original sin exists within us, we have no business here and there is no logical answer to our existence.
Imagine a group of people who are all blind, deaf and slightly demented and suddenly someone in the crowd asks, "What are we to do?"... The only possible answer is, "Look for a cure". Until you are cured, there is nothing you can do.
And since you don't believe you are sick, there can be no cure.
