I am mostly interested in the bit where he says its not just a new game, but a foundation for future devs. So I guess that its gonna be a new engine

Doubtful. EA is way too greedy to do that.

The initial idea came from the obvious parallel of winning in a strategy game, where the word “Victory” often ends up on your screen. The reason I think it fits so well is when you look at how to be successful in strategy games: it’s the ability to anticipate, plan, and react. This is no different when it comes to the gaming industry – you must anticipate the direction of the genre and marketplace, plan for what the consumers are looking for, and stay nimble enough to react to environmental changes.

Well at least we know he's played a strategy game before. 8|
As far as applying video game tactics to real life, though... we'll just have to see what happens when he tries to put a saboteur in the EA building.

Ninja'd achievement for me =D
I edited the post before you posted and thus killed your point 8|

As for the topic: Hopefully this time they get more than 18 months time...

I have lost pretty much all hope in the C&C series, they are gonna have to do something pretty spectacular to peak my interest.

They need way more than 18 months IMO if they are building a new engine. That should be more like 36 or even more.

Why don't they just go back to working on Tiberium? IMO, looking at the gameplay shorts on the internet, it seemed to be quite far into development, so I don't get why they cancelled it 8|

This. If you want a decent strategy game, go play anything made by Paradox Interactive (Hearts of Iron series, for example).

Because it was quite far into development for ages. They never made any real progress with management shifting faster than Kane resurrecting. By todays standard, what they have is too dated to continue work on.
Now go out and procreate. IN THE NAME OF DOOM!

Given a good amount of development time, i don't see why they can't make something good 8|
Well, as long as the don't mess about with the gameplay too much.

Didn't they say they were going to definitely stop working on the Tib dimension ?

Tiberium without Kane? I doubt that could ever happen, fans would rage 8|

Ending Kane's part in the Tiberium universe is the same as ending it. Seeing as after every time Kane "died", Nod more or less dissbanded, or started fighting eachother for control. Since Kane is now gone, no one is there to unify Nod, and it will be torn apart by internal powerstruggles.
When GDI is done rebuilding, they move in to the Nod controled areas, erase all Nod and starts removing the Tiberium. Once the Tiberium is gone, end of story. Unless the Scrin follows up on it's promise in the end of CNC3, I can't see any reason to actually continue with the Tiberium univers at all. Maybe a new universe is best for a relaunch of the series, but I won't say no to Generals 2 8|

Don't have an opinion on the "next" CNC game. Lets just hope its better than CNC4.

Actually it was, however Nod and Kane would be a supporting faction, with GDI and the Scrin being the main focus. (You can even see a aged Kane!)

They can actually continue the tiberium universe without Kane, I mean the Scrin can be further fleshed out and the main force still hasn't arrived. (Or if rumours are true, CNC4 can be considered non-canon.)

They could always expand on RNA minus the over the top cartoonyness but I wouldn't say no to a new engine.

I third this opinion.

Personally, I'd like to see a reboot of one of the series. Tiberian Dawn brought into a modern engine with the same gameplay feel would be awesome. All a pipedream unfortunately 8|

But this next game even if Generals 2, would have to do something really impressive to reel me in.

What's this C&C4 you talk of?

I can't think of such a game.
