There are so many versions of this topic its unreal, I may yet be bothered to merge them. For now, at work (multi-million pound business) this is the speed they run on....

Hey, after seeing your results, I don't think my internet is that bad anymore :xD:

(For some reason, speedtest always gives me an incorrect ping, 56 would be my ping when I connect to France...

As far as I remember, the last one we had was the worst ISP transforming into a speed comparison. Fiber optics for whatever reason are available anywhere but my residential area. I've been kicked countless times by Punkbuster for packet loss or simply disconnected, so my attempts at playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 online have been a disaster.

My internet has been pretty slow recently to say the least. This is what I've lived off for the last couple of months.

Posted Image

I'm almost 100% sure it's a problem with the router (internet is theoretically rated at 24mbps), not the foggiest what it could be though.

Errr, complain to your ISP? Whenever my connection speed drops under 100 kbps, I just call them and start yelling at them, gets it fixed instantly >:(
Also, some routers are not very heavy duty, when you use them too much their performance decreases drastically (Well, the Sagem F@st 2604 does that for sure, anyway)

It's not my ISP. I'm almost certain its one part of my connection hardware between here and the connection. It goes through 2 routers, a switch, a firewall, a cache and a gateway before it actually reaches the wall. The problem is figuring out which of them is the problem and what part of them is the problem, something that, as an Australian, I just cannot be arsed to do.

Not quite as good as Chyros, but arguably the best private line in the UK.

I should really get this for my work line using the academic hispeed network. Regularly get transfers in the tens of megabytes (NOT bits) a second.

Posted Image

For my home line but I'd be better if I wasn't doing this at peak time and using an extension within the property. In theory this line might hit 12 (had the engineer round recently).

I don't pay for it separately, but internet, gas (we use cooking gas), heating, electricity, water and services is 27 euros a month all together.

Holy fuck thats cheap.

I was paying £33 a month for a 25mb line, plus TV + phoneline, or rather 5 of us were. However even with a 25mb line the upload always sucks.

At home the max I get is 8mb though.
