Good benchmark would be to see if you can run Battlefield 3. That way you might be able to run this new C&C game since they use a similar version of the same rendering engine. Or use benchmarking tools like what Nvidia provides on their site. Because there's no use talking about not being able to run it just because of your OS when your hardware isn't up to it either.

Not for those of us who don't want to waste money on something we would literally never play.

Since when does one have to buy a game in order to check if they can run it?

As CJ said. That's why I mentioned Nvidia website. On their site, they usually have small advertisement-like banners that say some like "Is your PC ready for XXX game?". You can search for a particular game as well to test. That usually gives you a good indication.

Also, about Battlefield 3, you don't have to own it. You could borrow an account from a friend or something if you want to test it out. But if that's gonna take too long then you can go and try the above method.

Thank you.

Nope, CPU, OS & GPU don't meet min specs for BF3.

Then again, it also says I don't meet min specs for Anno 2070, yet I can run that game at max settings.

Dozers confirmed, I knew EA wouldn't be foolish enough to abandon, perhaps the best thing about generals. I was quite happy with everything I read here, until I came across this:

Quote

"There is presently no late-game resource like Black Markets or Supply Drops. All supplies (including oil fields) eventually run out and there will come a point where players have no way of earning any additional money. There were pros and cons to the old "indefinite late-game income" of Generals, and therefore their absence in Generals 2 is not necessarily a bad thing.

:duh: I guess we should hope for mod tools to fix this little issue. Also, Note that in that article they are still referring to this as Generals, so it's probably older then the FTP announcement.

Bumpity bump.

Well, a few news : EA has listened to fans (for once) and decided to go with a Generals 2 faction-wise (just replacing the USA by the EU, and renaming China to APA), as well as use construction dozers.
The game will have the same minimal specs as Battlefield 3.

Now here are a few tidbits I found in a fanmade newsletter I got :

A few bits of 'gameplay' (in Russian) :
http://www.youtube.c...d&v=HMfFYNGZx9o

French post with unit pictures :
http://forum.cncsaga...c-et-du-puzzle/

English inteview with some dude at Victory Studios about Frostbite :

I have to admit, it doesn't look AS bad as I thought it would... for now.

The graphics look...well the best I have seen for an RTS. But the no go on the Campaign and the F2P are too big turn offs for me. Being EA my bet is they are banking on the shiny new graphics to lure people in without listening to anything else the community is asking from them.

Well it is a free game after all, so there isn't much of a reason not to try it.
The fact that they actually listened to the feedback that was sent by CnC Saga forum users (for things like dozers/workers and factions) and brought it back to Generals 2 instead of a mashup of all 3 universes makes me willing to give them a second chance. It's not the same studio that made the crappy CnC4 after all...

I'll admit that this has risen in my estimation since it was first revealed. It certainly has the "look" of a proper Generals game.

They seemed to have changed the design of the units rather radically. Which is good because they were the epitomy of ugly last I saw Oo .

Yep the graphics did astound me. But I am still worried about this. The best I can say is that I am cautiously optimistic.

This. We only saw the eye candies. A good rts game needs more than graphics.

Most of what they show off seems to only be some clips that are a few seconds long and screenshots. They have talked more about the game than actually showing us anything in my opinion.

Finite resources aren't exactly a bad thing. In theory, it should allow them tighter control over the game's economy.

Whilst I don't blame any business for wanting to make money, EA's tactics are always unscrupulous. It makes me deeply sceptical about the entire thing. There's a catch in there somewhere - we just haven't seen it yet.

It's a free game, so we might as well try it, but I doubt I'll like it. It just doesn't look right somehow. The days of when units could be cool, funky and interesting, like in ZH, are all but over. The only RTS game I have serious hopes for atm is Planetary Annihilation.

I do hope they put Thrax in though :P .
