Lamb where they drain the blood (like in Asia/halal lamb) is much nicer than lamb where they leave the blood in (most of Europe/America/Australia) - same thing with pork. Chinese pork is much nicer than pork here, but the inverse is true for chicken and beef. Beef in China is notoriously terrible that a restaurant selling 'Australian beef' is a sign of quality.

It is because they are selling dog beef. Australian beef means cow beef.

I see. That might explain quite a few things, yes. That said, I don't know of a lot of halal food which tastes particularly great, either.
