That last render looks "pro", well, in fact, it looks better than all models in C&C3! My only complain would be that some places look a bit blurry, I am not sure but it may look better if it look a bit sharper :)

I'll see if I can do anything about that.

In the meantime, I decided to model a Turian cruiser:

Love the design. It's like a Su-27 with a bit of MiG 1.42 in it.

According to Haryo, it's based on the F22, PAK-FA and the CFA-44 from Ace Combat 6.

Man, that is so awesome. The tails are a bit small, but this fighter's eyecandy bombing.

Wow. your planes look amazing. How did you learn to do them? I've been trying to do smooth shapes for ages and I can't figure it out.
Quote

Sgt. Rho's Photo Sgt. Rho 01 Oct 2012

practice, as with basically everything I know about modeling and texturing. I use smoothing groups to create the "stealth seams", and use a different smoothing group for each side of wings, fins, etc. It's important to keep a roughly uniform curve to the shape, else it will look off. I'm actually surprised how smooth this one turned out.

Model's done, now to texture it.

That render with three planes looks pretty awesome. Is it possible to do that without the crosshair and render lines and adding a couple dozen more aircraft and a soil in the horizon which anti air fire coming from ? If you do that, that would be recorded as epic ! :D

I was planning on an air battle between Archers and Aquilas, but that doesn't sound bad either.

Here's a WIP of the texture:

Mostly done now, only need to finish the canards and the cockpit interior.

It's looking great! If I can make a suggestion though, try adding a bit more of lighting and shadowing on the texture around the seams in the metal. It'll create a bit more depth, because right now as they are it makes an otherwise greatly detailed texture look a little flat.

I always do that, but I do it after I'm done with the platelines. I then copy all platelines, merge them, and blur them.

Also: Done.

I am in love with the Archer. It reminds me of the FFR-41MR Mave <3
