War

Whitey's Photo Whitey 30 Apr 2007

Yes and yes.

Without war, we would all be dead today.
Without sorrow, we would never know good.
Without combat, one would take total control.
Without conflict, opiniated disagreements would not exist.
Without the technological advances used within, we would lack many of today's inventions.

War is natural. Humanity is natural. Tanks, planes, boats, all as natural as a beaver's dam. All we did was advance it, using natural mind, machine, and material. All animals battle, we only do so without claws and teeth. We say it is not natural, we say that no other species has such terrible tragedies, but they do. Be it packs of wolves or two dogs fighting over a pissing ground. Our reasons are all based upon our minds, which are natural, only advanced by knowledge. Nothing made by us is unnatural, this includes war.

War, for us, is a system of balance. It keeps the peace.

War is absolutely natural. (But that doesn't make it right.)

Although we are tested in the world, those who fight in a war and kill brothers and sisters are sinning (believe it or not) and this goes for those who are not in a war as well. Those who choose not to kill are pious individuals.

Conflict is natural, as once again, this life is a test. Those who CHOOSE not to fight are those who will be admitted into Paradise.

Not religiously speaking... war is right. War gives us sadness, and sadness gives us happiness. War has advanced our race.

I am unsure what your reasoning is for this. Please explain.

How can you know happiness if you have never known the opposite?

If one never feels pain, they don't know how good they have it.

If you lived in paradise, and were then sent to earth, what would you think of Earth? You would think it hell. But if you went from Hell to Earth, it would be quite the opposite. Imagine war is hell and peace is Earth.

You do not need war for pain. :)
Quote

Whitey's Photo Whitey 30 Apr 2007

But war has given us the worst of pains.
Quote

Anon45566's Photo Anon45566 30 Apr 2007

No! There are many other things that give us pain!

Deaths of family members, fights/quarrels (in families and with friends), etc...
Quote

Whitey's Photo Whitey 30 Apr 2007

And war provides all of the above for humanity as a whole.
Quote

Anon45566's Photo Anon45566 30 Apr 2007

Yes, but, it isn't necessary. All those other things give just as much (and sometimes more) pain.

We also receive pain in many other ways.

War is not necessary.

War is necessary. It is a form of population control and a form of the settlement of disagreements at an extreme level. Without war, nobody would disagree with anybody and we would all be slaves to ourselves and to society.

Conflict is necessary but war as we know it today is a ritual of its own. Or as Clausewitz puts it "the extension of politics by other means". War and politics are linked together.

War is to joy as hunger is to food. Seeing a family member might be a ho hum every day thing, but war can make it the happiest expeirence in your life.

War is a natural faucet of Natural Selection. It was and is necessary for us to advance.

every species has to fight for his own presence, since the beginning
of live on earth.
most inventions were made in war or for war.
that makes war a sign for evolution and change.
inevitable.
today the war is not fought by people, but by their tools.
this just makes war too powerful.

On the one side, war is a means of politics, on the other it's part of humanity itself since the beginning.
Humans are probably the most aggressive of all beings on this planet and they spend more time finding new and more sophisticated ways of wiping out eachother than anyone else. Violence, sadly, is part of our nature and I highly doubt that this'll ever change.

Rebelling is natural.
Struggling is natural.
Fighting is natural.
Killing is natural.
Taking part in an organized war just because you were comanded to... well... :)

...is natural. You seemed to be having trouble finishing the sentence, so I just thought I'd oblige :D

I'm a gung-ho, motivated jarhead, whaddya think my stance is?

War is natural. What were the first items invented by man? Weapons. Also, war is not right and justified only when waged against the United States, as al Jazeera, BBC, and CNN would have you believe. There are a great many reasons for going to war, and some are more legitimate and obvious than others.

War is defined by politics, conflict by nature. You've never seen a war start on its own have you?

Who are you adressing?

AllStarZ's Photo AllStarZ 30 Apr 2007

No one in particular.

Anon45566's Photo Anon45566 30 Apr 2007

War is not necessary, war is cruel and inhuman.

Those who kill are NOT natural. Those who kill in cold blood have no right to do so and are only hurting themselves and others. Do not try and justify it...

Killing = Killing

You can't twist it any other way....
Quote

AllStarZ's Photo AllStarZ 30 Apr 2007

There is a difference between murder and killing apparently.

War is necessary, if simply because of the existence of international politics.

AND, if there were no politics? OR if our leaders pulled the sticks from their asses and listened to the world perhaps there would be no need for war! :D
