Well I decided, as I find it very relaxing, to start making a few sigs and whatnot. I will update this thread with stuff as and when I decide to do anything. If you want to request anything as well, just post here and I'll look at it - if you're reasonably desperate! I'll also ammend anything here to anyone personally if they ask - but i may pass on the SOTW #57 entry one - it was darn tough to do that text.
My SOTW #57 entry - theme of explosion:
My Sig that I did for CrazyKenny's competition:
One made just for fun
Another one that I made recently - to do with the fact that I play a lot of tennis:

Crobar 29 May 2008
Looking good I like what you've done with the tennis ball sig, it looks really neat
Libains 29 May 2008
Thanks Crobar - I don't reckon it's too bad for a second attempt!
Anyways - I entered Number's 'Competition' with absolutely no idea as to what he wanted except 'cute' and 'include a Schnuffel'. Came out with this:

Not bad. The smudging needs some practise though mate. Not bad for a first attempt. You should duplicate your render over the top of what you have now and then lightly (soft brush 20% opacity) erase some edges. The smudging won't be so obvious then. Also it looks like you have used a colour dodge setting, you might want to reduce that a touch to avoid such a harsh colouration.
Keep it up
Keep it up

Cheers for the comments Wizard - very helpful indeed - so I had a little fiddle with it and got this:
Wizard 03 Jun 2008
MUCH betta in those areas.
Next comment though, sorry should have said something in the previous post. It lacks texture and therefore depth as well. Go search on planetrenders for some c4ds and try adding one in.

Yeah - i was looking at some of those - and am having a few problems with c4ds - namely implementing them into things on Photoshop period - any chance of a hand on that? Ps thanks for the comments again.
Libains 03 Jun 2008
Thanks - sounds good - will not be available 'till 9GMT however - proxies block MSN during the day! Cheers,
~AjPod
EDIT:
Decided to have a fiddle again and to see what I could do about my sig - so I then produced this one:

Slightly Wonky Robob 03 Jun 2008
Not bad, a few criticisms though:
- The (I'm guessing) shadow doesn't really work, it's too dark, it's been cut off, and looks out of place with the style of the sig.
- I think the sig needs a border of some kind, and possibly the rounded edges removed.
- The sig is a tad on the large side, I would suggest make the render slightly smaller, and lower the overall height of the sig.
- Finally I think the font/text needs a little work
Don't get me wrong, tis a nice sig though

Ok - so I did some more editing, along the line of what Bob said:
and i realise I've cut the top off a bit - damn.
So here it is with no top cut off

Thanks guys - nice to know!
So did some work for the SOTW and have drafted this up at the moment:
As it turns out that the demon is a Balrog, so i went for a bit of a LOTR effect.

Libains 10 Jun 2008
Well I've been playing around with some more things in my spare time and have come up with this one: any comments?
Wizard 10 Jun 2008
Render doesn't, in anyway, match or blend into the BG. Colours aren't right for pairing up.
Sgt. Nuker 10 Jun 2008
By themselves, the background and render are choice. However, like Wizard has made everyone aware of, they don't seem to blend as well as one would have hoped for.
Libains 10 Jun 2008
Yes - i agree that they don't go as well as I had hoped - I'll have a tinker at some point and see if I can't get something that's a bit better.
Libains 10 Jun 2008
OK - so I did my little tinkering and adjusted a few hues and a couple of other things and got this: any better?
Wizard 10 Jun 2008
Considerably better. Now if you add a black and white gradient map to it, set it to multiply at about 25-50% it should hide up the green abit more.
