I am aware that the gore factor was always there through various preview videos, but that doesn't make me like it any more. I sometimes have difficulty disassociating things from reality (or at least my subconscious does - it seems to think it's fun to try and simulate whatever negative effect I witness) so it's not something I tolerate in almost any degree.
AFAIK you cna always disable the gore...or as in the BoS where you could change blood from red to green (now that looked fun )

Some crybaby of a fruitcake went on a whinge-binge and had the posters of Fallout 3 in Washington DC pulled down because it had somehow vaguely instilled the idea that terrorism might lead to a post apocalyptic wasteland because a poster has in the background a monument. Bethesda has since then recalled the posters but seriously, why does it have to take crap like that?

Well, no matter how different it is from the originals, if even an infintesimal piece of win rubs off from 1 & 2, this will be the best game of 2008, so I'm definitely getting it.

Summary:
- It's unbelievably open and everything you do has a consequence (One example was stealing from a vendor and finding the vendor had moved out of town later)
- VATS works incredibly well.
- Character animations are pretty eh but it's still incredibly immersive
- It's not Oblivion with guns
- Character scaling better than Oblivion.

Basically i loved oblivion a lot and that had lots of downfalls, Fallout 3 is likely to blow me away.

Imma pirate it first. If it runs well on my laptop, I'll buy it sometime in the near future. If not, I guess I have to wat for my new rig first :(
Either way, I think I'll like this game A LOT. A definite must-buy.

It's hilarious going onto nma-fallout.com atm. It's pretty well pages and pages of rave reviews from all over the internet, yet it seems they've already decided it's a horrible game nonetheless as they're taking it upon themselves to pick out every little negative comment from every review.
And not in a good Yahtzee way, more like an infuriated fanboy sort of way.

Strangely, being an NMA member, I don't feel offended.
RaiDK 29 Oct 2008
I'm not aiming that at the NMA community as a whole, just whoever updates their news.
And that's all in a week. Bit sad that they find it this hard to keep a neutral stance since it is in fact just a video game.

But what will the winner get in return you ask? This lovely sky blue article of clothing has been used to demonstrate the exact feelings that NMA, and the many loyal fans have towards the newest spawn of the already much abused Fallout franchise.

There have been multiple questions submitted asking whether NMA was just going to ignore Fallout 3 like it did Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel.
Well, we're not planning to, though we're not hootin' or hollerin' either. We plan to provide our readers with clear and concise info of everything they need on Fallout 3: quests, items, weapons, walkthroughs, the whole shebang.

In a giant sellout move or something, The Vault announces a competition to navigate the wiki in some manner and thus win prizes from Bethesda. These prizes are games, T-shirts and stuff. Puppets. Live baby deathclaws. All it costs to enter is your immortal soul.

If only Bethesda had been willing to open its mind to alternatives to the first-person perspective they've used for 10 years now. Talk about being beholden to one perspective, Pete.

Fallout is up for pre-order on Steam. Not necessarily of interest unless Steam has one of their weekend pre-order discount dealies

We put up a few quotes from PSM3's 90/100 Fallout 3 review earlier, but here's a lot more of it and let me tell you, it's the most negative, criticism-filled 90/100 review I've ever seen.

You really should. also, even though it's highly hypocritical, sign this hopeless petition.

Looks like that was started a while back, perhaps even before Fallout 3 was announced.

It's kind of moot now though, isn't it? Looks like this one was geared towards the release of a Fallout 3 game, I'm assuming was made after Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel was released on consoles.
But Fallout 3's out now, and Interplay don't own the rights so yeah...

True Fallout 3. Project Van Buren.
RaiDK 29 Oct 2008
I'm aware of what Van Buren is. Van Buren is to Fallout 3 as Westwood's tech demo is to Tiberium Wars.
