I personally think your entry misses the entire point of this thread.

^ Nice model MYLO.
Although it is good i'm not getting much of an apc vibe from it.

Mike

Edit - Here is my final, updated render. The treads look nicer and i edited some other things.

Could this be added to the main thread instead of the current render.

Mylo's reminds me of the USCM APC from Aliens
and Gabriel's the Imperial Guard Chimera

Awsome work to both of them.

Am I able to add a skinned model?

Well, I don't know if I'm allowed to post a skin, since there's nothing about it in the rules:
*Removed for great justice D:*

OK, that's my bad, sorry Kid/Horatio. It'd be far preferable if there were no skins, as this is a modelling contest, hence people are only being judged by their models - a skin may add to or detract from the model, and as such could give an unfair advantage in the competition. Hence, it would be great if you could remove the skin :P

I'd also like to draw contestants back to the rules for a moment here. It is very clearly stated right here:

*The model must be submitted in .w3d format unless completely impossible, when .3ds will be accepted.

As such, we have no entries that have provided any form of .w3d format, just renders. While all well and good in that the models are displayed appropriately, it does make it harder for Dr Nick to UV-unwrap the winning model if he doesn't have it. :) Furthermore, we are trying to use this as means of a creating a model database/collection, hence if your models are uploaded they will in turn be stored for others to use, helping the community as a whole. Hence, I'd appreciate it greatly if you guys could post some form of the model in an attachment, please, or else we will have no choice but to disqualify you for not reading the rules, which I don't want to do as the turn-out is good. Ty all, keep up the good work! 8|

Or maybe whoever wins can just PM the model to you.

Jok3r's Photo Jok3r 02 Nov 2008

Actually, lets try it this way- everyone PM their models to me (in .w3d) so that its not quite as obvious for the moment.

Not w3d.
We need a raw 3ds, as imported w3ds look trash.

Which reminds me, offering formats compatible with older versions is a necessity.

We've agreed to accept both, for the record.

hmmmm I could give you a .max file of 3ds max 7 or a .w3d ... the problem is... not every 3ds max can import the max file of 3ds max 7 without probs

ill just pm Swimmer with .max, .3ds and .W3D and he can give out what ever to whoever wants it.

Perhaps.

Alias's Photo Alias 03 Nov 2008

This is a modelling contest, hence scoring should ONLY be based upon the model otherwise it is flawed.
Quote

Libains's Photo Libains 03 Nov 2008

Alias is absolutely right - this is a modelling contest, hence only the model will be judged. However, any code that can be provided with the model would be much appreciated, as it facilitates the transition into actual mods, and is a useful addition to the collection of resource that we are hoping to build from this.

my entry:

the vehicle is unarmed but can extend it's arm at the cost of becoming temporarily unable to move, extending the arm will make it able to become a powerful anti-infantry and anti-air weapon. it will still be able to rotate on the spot but it won't be able to move.
