Fallout 3 is unplayable.

A game is not a game if it crashes every bloody minute. It becomes a software tumor, and a chore to fix. Because of this, Fallout 3 isn't a game to me. I've wasted about half a day now trying different fixes to get it to work, but it continues to crash within a minute of play without failure. I'm now downloading a patch specifically aimed for pirated versions that supposedly works wonders.

If any of you happen to have some fix for this I'd like to hear it. :/

Yeah when I used a downloaded version, it kept crashing too, and that was after trying from several other sources. AFAIK there is no fix for this.

Any info on the crashes? (technical report etc.)

FO3 did crashes ocasionally when I played it but not enough to prevent be from completting the game.

Get the Fallout Mod Manager, Fallout Script Extender and Fallout Unofficial Patch. I have the problems too, and this fixed it for me (or at least, delayed the time between freezing/crashes).

Had a downloaded version aswell, never had any problems with it. You probably be best of trying the unofficial patches.

The crashes are unfixable.Just get the first two, they're much better anyhow.

Mine would always lock up as I created a new game :/

And Strangelove, people should try the game before passing judgment. Lizzie and a few others haven't tried it, so we can't really tell whether the first two are better.

I just uninstalled it. There's a certain workload I'll take on to get a game to run and, this has far exceeded it. There is no other information to present on the crashes. It just crashes to the desktop without so much as an error report.

I can't believe this game is this broken. It's just fucking absurd. EA releases more stable games then this.

Are there no laws against this sort of thing? Its ridiculous, a lot of games are bugged to hell on release. You wouldnt buy a car that would just breakdown after a days would u?
Id say I have a gd few games that can crash to the point of unplayability

To those people who can make it run well enough to play, good for you. I hope you enjoy it. As for me, the following gif summarizes my feelings on this game and Bethdesa's work about as well as I can.

I might try other sources for this game when I recover enough patience to take another stab at it. I heard some sources provide a much more stable version.

Sorry if I seem like I'm ranting, because I am. I just spent half a day trying to get this to work and I have nothing to show for it. I feel like stomping on some nuts right now.

The problem with this is that it varies from system to system :/ Not to mention the fact that console versions are generally more reliable too.

I heard even that has bugs. If that's the case I'm going to steer clear of the console version as well. At least I can try to fix the PC version. If the console version is broken then all I can do is take it back to the store for a refund.

I dunno, I tried some of the Pirated patches, they didn't work too well for me. Electronic Versions have always been ass as well.

The most stable versions are obviously the legal DVD version and the pirated DVD rip. If either of them are kept up to date with patches, then crashes are rare.

Although I suppose if your system's slow, it'll naturally be more crash-prone.

Sorry, are you ranting at the game company because your pirated version of their game doesn't work?

I'm ranting that the pirated versions often work better then the original itself. There are actually pirated versions of this game out there with fixes pre-loaded into them. Hell some people even had to load up patches for the pirated version into their legal version.

I don't see anywhere in this thread where I said I pirated the game, so how about you watch your fucking accusations.

Lizzie, don't give up that soon. I worked several weeks to get the game running, only to found out it's Daemon Tools that is fucking stuff up. Now the game runs pretty stable, and I can even run a decent mod for it.

Lizzie, posts that are aggressive in nature contravene our first board rule. You can make a point without resorting to abrasive language.

Moreover, this discussion contains references to piracy and thus has become ambiguous in nature. If it continues in this vain it will be locked without hesitation as we do not advocate piracy here at Fallout Studios.

I'm sorry but I've been fighting with the computer to get other stuff to run other then this. I only have so much patience to go around. I'm not going to sift through the computer and check EVERYTHING just to play one game.

Every member has the right to say what he thinks. You should respect other peoples' views, no matter how much you might disagree with them. Posts that are clearly inflammatory or aggressive in nature are not allowed however. Respect goes both ways. You show us your respect, and we will return the gesture.

I was given none so none will be given. Thank you and have a good day.

That rule does not give you a free pass to create posts that are aggressive and inflammatory in nature.

I wasn't so much making a "fucking accusation" as asking a question, and unlike your post I at least tried to do it politely. Perhaps I gave the wrong impression, and for that I apologise. But since you insist on being so incredibly rude, I'll list my reason for making my assumption:

I'm sorry if I jumped to conclusions but that was the impression I got, and a simple "no, my copy is legal" would have been sufficient to dispel that. Might I suggest you cut the attitude if you want people to help you?

Right, but only because I'm not a staff favorite. You don't seem to hesitate to give others free pass-go's.

Rich: There is nothing at all fucking polite about sarcasm. It's just a passive aggressive way to snot off at people. Regardless if it was posed in the form of a question or not.

Alright people, both of you got your point across. Now I won't ask you to kiss and make up as both of you are adults. So for the sake of this thread let us get back in topic and forget this happened shall we?
Quote

Dauth's Photo Dauth 10 May 2009

Sorry Overdose but I am putting an end to this.

Lizzie I have explained on numerous occasions how you will have to talk to the moderators to get anything from us. You never listen and I'm not going to tell you again.

If you can't get the game to work, take it back, ranting on the forum won't make Fallout 3 suddenly work.

Regardless of the respect element of the rules the inflammatory and aggressive rule is still there to be obeyed and this thread should have been locked.
