Recently I've been looking around at some other Machinima videos and getting the general idea of how they are made using GMod (typically) and sound bits/music. I thought if we come across useful programs or mods for GMod we could post them here!

So far I've downloaded Garry's Mod, and also this nifty program called GCFScape. GCFScape just allows you to play any sound bits from the valve games such as L4D or TF2, and is very simple to use. Be warned though, there are a LOT of sound bits per game! Linky here.

EDIT: I forgot, L4D sound bits do not require GCFScape to use, they can be played as is.

GMOD Racer is a good one. The onyl servers I know that host it are down at the moment though and I don't know how to get hold of the actually mod files.
