There's a new shotgun on that page too.

Pfffffft

THERE IS A GOLDEN WRENCH MAN.

But yeah, the new shotgun sounds quite useful actually. If I ever play offensive engie, I'd use this.

By the way, the update page was live before the blog post.

The shotgun is a fair attempt at drawing the Engineer away from his base, which is VALVe's goal in the first place, but how well it'll work I'm not too sure of. Either way, it is rather reassuring that the Engineer update nearing completion. :P

Looks like only a hundred golden wrenches will be given out, and completely at random as well. Also appears that you have to be in the process of crafting an item in order to receive the Midas touch, as it were.

Gold Wrench is kind of unique for Egineer and it turns golden corpse. Pretty awesome, but nothing special.

Also, there is one original TF team member's picture behind Fontier Justice before release Engineer update.

I'll just fire up TF2 and craft for the heck of it :P
Hmm, no Wrench for me (surprise surprise), even though one did drop for someone else. Now I do have a nice new hat :read:

Golden Wrench is pretty rare random drop and chance will be 0.05%. :P

Many people very jealousy or mad who has golden wrench.

Valve removed the ability to craft the Golden Wrench now :read:

^ That ability had been taken away for a while. The Golden Wrench, is a random drop it seems, and not just any "random drop". It seems to drop randomly when you are crafting.

And new 35 achievements.

The second engi weapon is up. The engineer will get a joystick to remote control his sentry!

Have to say that I'm abit disappointed. Was expecting something more interesting.

Because a sentry controller with a force field isn't interesting? Personally I think it's an excellent addition to the game, especially since I never use that silly pistol anyway :P

It means the sentry has unlimited range by the looks of it, which sounds like an awesome idea.

Snipers trying to pick off sentries might be a thing of the past then. If a sentry has unlimited range.......that opens up a new level of defense....or at least it will make the enemy think a bit more.

At any rate, the joystick will have to be thoroughly tested, and I won't be surprised if there aren't a few "hiccups" along the way.

That remote will prove so useful on maps like Egypt.

You shouldn't forget that it basically has all the accuracy problems of a heavy. You have to aim it yourself so won't be able to hit scouts or other fast players with it. I don't think it would really be all that useful, just a gimmick that's handy in a select few moments.

INdeed.

Valve has always gone about solving a certain problem with their updates. Frankly, until we know more about it, I don't know a problem this could fix.

As in, we don't know if it has unlimited range.

Would be surprising if it hadn't, otherwise that would mean the designator should be pointing at an enemy to work, and thus it would become some sort of aimbot...

Well it does provide that forcefield that absorbs 66% of incoming damage.
