INtense! from ModDB just posted up a small article about the possibility of the CryEngine going free. Apparently they are intending to create a "standalone free platform that people can run independant of CryEngine"
It seems that if you have a high end rig, have a strong will and an interest in the creation of indie games, it's your lucky day.
