Battlefield 3 Discussion

That's if they allow modding.
The current server model that EA DICE is using doesn't allow users to generate their own content.

Im scared for the franchise After what happened with BC2 and the MoH multiplayer they seriously need to get their shit together for this one.
My bad, its not BF3 its a different BF game.

Oddly the failure that is MoH also resparked a lot of hate for BC2 I never heard before. I still thoroughly enjoy that game, am I the only one?
Anyway, for that unannounced BF game, I would like a GOOD version of BF2142.

I haven't played if for a while, but there were some good aspects to it that I enjoyed. Sadly I never had the time to find a decent server with a big enough group of people that knew how to play, to have enjoyed as I wanted to. I think it suffered a touch due to the MW2 whinners that climbed aboard that band wagon and just wookie camped forever and a day, at least in the games I tried to play.
By-the-by you are welcome to shout at me if you know a decent server and fancy a game.

As said in the article about BF3 and the PC version, BC2 is in essence a 'console port' as it was built with the limitations of the console in mind. Heck, its the sequel of a console only game. I have never played BF2 really so thats why I don't know what is the 'true' battlefield gameplay.
According to the article, the development process should focus on the PC and give the consoles scaled down ''PC ports''. BF3's greatest danger is still the influence of this multiplatform choice. Both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 are in the second part of their life and a really good PC BF3 will be miles ahead of what the console machines are able to process. I can hardly believe that BF3 will not be console limited in some way. I say this because this announcement of a beta, even if its only a year from now, is coming way too early after the release of MoH. They also did this with the Command and Conquer games, hitting the fan with beta keys for the next game just after the release of the earlier, and we have seen how that worked out. I hope this beta is at least a year or longer ahead of us, so I can have the idea that DICE has enough time to differentiate the two versions and make the PC version stand out.

I still don't know why BC2 is considered an epic fail by a lot of people. Somehow its cool to completely hate BC2 and MW2 nowadays (or any FPS that isn't BF2 or CoD4).
If there is a new Battlefield, I will probably play it, if it isn't a complete waste of time like Battlefield Heroes or a half-assed attempt like Battlefield 1943.
But since it isn't BF3, which has been more or less already officially announced, I highly doubt it will be a serious game.

DICE are EA's new games factory now. Just look at the number of titles they have been working on in the past year - BC2, BC2: Vietnam, Medal of Honor, and now Battlefield 3 (which was most likely in very early production). You can see how the quality of the games has taken a hit due to EA's imposed release schedules and resources being stretched to their limits.
Quoting myself because this is ridiculous now.

Clunky, awkward controls, lack of player/model variation, bad animations, robotic reloads, poor hit detection, unconvincing weapon damage, problems with objective gameplay bred by snipers, no prone, no strafe, lack of maps and game modes, a ropey singleplayer campaign, and lack of full body awareness on the quad bike (no hands on the handlebars) are just some of the reasons why I dislike Crap Company 2.
EA will milk the DICE cow until its udders bleed. What happened to the C&C series is inevitable here. All the hallmarks: the window between releases grow closer, and the quality gets worse with every passing title.

That's a shame. Like always, ruining good games.
TBH, I've played BF:BC2, and I love the online but the story is pretty boring, and so plain, they should improve the story of the new campaing featured in this new game.

I'd have to say the main reason to hate BC2 is that most people didn't know how to play it, so it must suck. And a lot of those MW2 haters were probably sucking all up into IWs anus when it first came out. It's just "cool" to hate on games I suppose.
Camille 03 Nov 2010
wrong.
people just like to hate. end of story. don't go searching for reasons because usually, there are none.

Got proof to back up that statement or is this supposition?
Maybe - I dunno? - people just don't like it, or find it lacking.
And why do DICE products all have hit detection issues?
It's just "cool" to hate on games I suppose.
If I don't like something, I'm going to express my opinion on the matter. You seem like you are unable to deal with criticism when it is levelled at a game developer - almost as if you take personal offence to it.

Stinger, that post wasn't directed at you, I play with people other than this forums userbase . And, yeah, I'd say you're right Camille.
Why does Infinity Ward drop their games on release? Or release buggy and exploitable gameplay that the majority of the playerbase hates? And why does Treyarch think they can make good video games? (Even though I do like the fact that they try something new most of the time) Yeah, DICE has their issues. But I'll pick them over the two companies that release the same game every six months.

DICE is the epitome of a "company that releases the same game every six months". Sure, IW and Treyarch aren't any different with Activi$ion and all that, but it's kind of hypocritical suggesting DICE doesn't do exactly the same thing.

Frictional Games pwns all.
Seriously, five swedish guys with barely any cash, manage to create the best horror game in years (Amnesia: The Dark Descent). The game can be summed up as everything a horror game can do right.

CoD4 had pretty good patching after release. It's not IW's fault if Activision is pushing games out faster and faster and dropping the support for them

The only thing I hate about BC2 is the fact that the fucking SDK still hasn't been released and probably never will.

Point taken, but I'm not sure if you can even count Medal of Honor on that list because of the fucktrocity that is that game. I didn't even know Danger Close (Formed by EA) existed until MoH.

Well hasnt DICE already declared that the SDK for BC2 simply wont exist on the grounds of how retarded the engine is.
Anyway im derailing this discussion (the haters versus haters discussion) back onto topic. Apparently rumors say this will be a BF Heroes type of game thats going to be announced. Basically one of those lame F2P shitty ass FPS's which I hope they all burn to hell

I don't think its fare for us to blame the developers for the degrading quality of games in both MW and BC franchises. Its mostly due to the publishers. The developers have to come up with the best within the measly time frames and resources they are given. Gaming is an industry and a game is no longer a piece of software that is developed with heart and soul in most cases.
If you started gaming from the mid-late 90s then you feel this change in the game the most. The newer generation grew up with the newer business modeled games and may not complain a lot like the rest.
As for BC2 itself, most ppl don't like cos they try to play it like MW which you can't. Its much more team oriented and if you have a good squad, its pretty good fun.
