Blergh, 12 GB to download, this is going to be painful :|
Good thing there's a preload, really :D

Getting the DVD(s) delivered instead = saving of £10 on the cost too |8

Did you get the Limited Edition though? Don't forget that buying it on Origin gives you more stuff + the Back to Karkand expansion |8

Hello there,

I’m running a Battlefield 3 server with some pals of mine in the modding community that’s going to be up and running on day one. It’s ranked, has 64 slots, based in Chicago, and is hosted by one of the best providers around so it should be nice and fast come launch day.

I’ve been advertising it somewhat thoroughly on moddb and such so I figured I’d make a mention of it here too.

I won’t know the server IP until launch day but I’ll be updating www.octoberstation.com with all the various info, and I’ll try and make an update post here too if I’m not overcome with how great BF3 is.

Hope to see you there pals.

Damn I hate this Origin. I had downloaded like 50% and kept the download on overnight. When I checked it this morning there's a message saying that there is an error in the download and asks me to log out and login again. When I do, I have to download from the beginning. This sucks. A similar issue happened with Crysis 2 when the download did not complete even when the status bar showed over 100%. I had to download that 3 times.

This is nowhere near what Steam offers. I am frikin pissed right now

Yup, got it all, and some spec ops extra skins too. Origin is just a rip-off because EA charges full retail price at the same price as console games, unlike everywhere else which prices PC games about £10 cheaper. Bollocks to that I tell ye.

Still don't know what to say about the new WUBWUBWUBWUBWUB theme. Never liked techno very much.

Same thing happened to me.. .I'm completely pissed off. I have been tryinf to download BF3 since the preloading became availiable... The way I did to minimize this freaking error was to pause the download in a few momments, copy the downloaded files and resume downloading. But I need to be watching, so it takes too long. If I let it by itself...I get that error.

Does it detect if part of the download exists in the download location. From my earlier experience of C2 and medal of honor it does not.

I just finished downloading the game (without any problem), and guess what? There's already a (small) update xD

You have to rename the backup folder and do a backup of the backup and them it will detect... I HATE EA!

Can you be a little bit more clear. Anyways I saw something like this on the EA forums,

First you pause your download, copy the BF3 folder to backup location. Then when the error comes, you clear the folder in your account name (usually email address) in the c: drive. Then copy the backup to the download location and restart the download. It would resume the download. Bad thing is i'm at work today and have not way to backup mid day. Anyways, my game would unlock on 28th. So I have time at least.

Huh? Do you live in the US? Rest of the world doesn't get the game on the 25th.

EDIT : The Gadget show aired, so the sim is now on youtube:

I preordered as well, it's only going to unlock on the 28th still :|

I do however have a tip to play it early :
Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings -> Tick "Use a proxy for your LAN") -> Address: 210.107.100.251 Port: 8080
and BAM! Playing it right now!

(Don't forget to remove the proxy setting as soon as you've activated it so you don't get a massive lag though)

Just heard from a friend of mine in Sri Lanka who was able to play today without any tricks eventhough we all got the mail that the game would be unlocked on 28th. I am still using the pain method to download since my overnight download stopped as before. Set it to resume from by backup last night. This Origin thing is driving me nuts.

From what I see, all the sniper rifle fires freaking sub-sonic rounds or they are fighting in some place that have gravity as strong as Jupiter.

I am fine with hit scan, bullet travel time but if they are adding ballistics, at least make it believable. Funny that I am doing the same thing in RO2 with a SMG on the BF3 "sniping" distance.

Spoiler

Too much Black-Ops mixed with MW.
It's not a bad game, but nothing too fancy or new in the Campaign.

You should read some Tom Clancy's books and you'll see how MW's story comes straight from them :D

Finally manage to install the game. Even though EA mailed me that the game would unlock on 28th It got unlocked. Couldn't play it though. I have some trouble launching the game from Origin. But I can launch directly from the game. I didn't go to the game yet. Got to the point where I have to install the browser plugin. Should try again when I return from work.
