Battlefield 3 Discussion

Shirou's Photo Shirou 05 Nov 2010

Come on guys, this is free, whats the problem? This is actually a good thing? Why do you ask? Well..

If Dice doesn't need to spend more than four and a half afternoon on this game, then they will have more time to polish up Battlefield 3. We weren't waiting for two full fledged battlefield games only there in existence to make each other a buggy game.

Plus they had a cool trailer and it reminds me of America's Army 2, another free to play army FPS I have played to death. So, I will try this.

The problem is that it's probably going to follow the standard F2P way: It's free, but whoever has the most money IRL is going to win, not who is actually *good* at the game.

Just to make the point that the f2p-battlefields aren't made by DICE

After seeing the video of B4F and seeing the stripped down BF2 with the same sounds as BC2 I realised just how raped the BF franchise is getting atm... DICE must be working overtime
That makes zero sense.

>DICE reusing almost all old assets.
>working overtime

>implying porting old content over actually takes time

WHAT I MEANT waaas, that theyre also doing BC2: vietnam, still supporting BC2 and MoH's multiplayer (which is some of the most boring shit Ive ever played) and theyve still got to port 1943 over to the PC and make BF3.

So while that may not take too much time, all the hundreds of others things theyve got to do, do :P

Actually...not exactly true. Just to point it out.

P4Free is partly DICE's work (and no i dont mean the BF2 content but the actual game itself)

Also for the LOVE OF GOD the BTR even has teh MEC flag on it

It's probably going to be US vs MEC vs China, or US vs MEC or US vs China.
Quote

Wanderer's Photo Wanderer 06 Nov 2010

it's a different corp that makes the game no matter if they use BF2 as the basis for it

Well, it looked to me like BF2-for-free, and in BF2 there was US, MEC and China bashing each other.

This is true, BFH was originally developed by DICE and then handed over to the "Battlefield Heroes Team", an EA dev team.

According to MobyGames, Ben Cousins works for DICE.

As usual, the person playing the demonstration is awful at the game - walking out in the open like it's the showdown at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone - and Cousins [the developer] hasn't got the faintest idea what he's talking about. It just sounds like typical EA PR talk to fill a segment. Where's the data to back up his claims?

How much will it cost?

PR drinking game:

Take a shot for every time the guy misses the target with 9 out of 10 shots.
Take a shot for every time the words "innovative", "unique" and "cool" is said.
Take two shots if the words concern something completely standard and mainstream.
Take a shots if he mentions how "mature" the game is.
Take two shots if the "mature" parts of the game means: Boobs and blood.

also :P at the comment.

I'd give him at least a little credit, he's trying to explain it to someone and play at the same time.

I don't know how you deduced that. He had a microphone stuck in his face and his hand was flapping while he was talking and the game was playing uninterrupted.

Anyhow, I'm interested to see if DICE add prone to this game. If it's using the tech demo they call FrostBite then I wouldn't bank on it.

Then why did you answer me as if you had?

I don't think I can have a serious discussion with someone who makes an assumption about a video without having watched it.

They usually have some guy explaining a bunch of bullshit (that is never actually in the final game, he also often sucks horribly at the game.) while he plays it. But point taken.

I 'love' the wording of some of the points in the video. "We've upgraded the maps, the visuals of the maps are upgraded and we have also changed the layout".
What that basically confirms is the fact the map is smaller than the BF2 map, which sucks.

I'm a BF fan, but i don't see the point of this game because I'd rather just play some good old BF2.

EA CEO John Riccitiello has confirmed the released window for its upcoming COD competitor, Battlefield 3.

http://www.made2game.com/xbox-360/riccitie...d-half-of-2011/

Looks like EA may be taking the fight to next year's Call of Duty. I will be encouraged if they go for a November release as it will show that they have enough faith in their product for it to stand toe-to-toe with a CoD. The MoH release this year was cowardly, with all its pre-order bonuses and a promise of guaranteed access into the Battlefield 3 beta.
