New Laptop

Slightly Wonky Robob's Photo Slightly Wonky Robob 22 Apr 2012

So I'm looking for a new laptop... and once again I've come to you guys for advice. :D

It should be relatively cheap (£300-£400), be able to play HD footage, have an SD card reader, at least 2 USB slots, 500GB+ harddrive and preferably a number pad. Other than that, I don't really have any preferences.

Anyone got any suggestions? :o

This looks pretty good.

Asus makes good laptops and I bought a laptop off Ebuyer for my sister and it was an overall good service.

Thanks Doc.

Was looking to buy from eBuyer as I've bought a few things from them recently

That Asus looks pretty decent. I'm still open to suggestions, but I really need to order one in the next couple of days, so if no-ones got any better suggestions, I'll probably just go for that one.

I used an Asus laptop for two years until I got back into desktops again.
It was a good solution for the most part, reliable - good performance, however - it, like every other Asus laptop, has a huge flaw.
The display. The display is absolutely terrible. Resolution is completely inadequate for the screen size, colour reproduction is poor at best and contrast is fairly ordinary.

If you can get over the horrible display, it should serve you well.

That's something I've read in reviews as well... Would be nice to get one with a decent display... however it isn't that vital atm.

I had a acer laptop that was pretty amazing. It lasted for 5 years before it just shut down. I got myself a small asus laptop and I'm prety much loving this thing. Portable, powerfull and it was pretty cheap too.. Nowadays most laptops can play HD-videos pretty well thanks to the gfx-cards/chips that do the decoding.
