I've seen a post on another forum about retractable landing gear for aircraft being possible. Anyone here tried it before?

Well you could look into the codes of Cold War Crisis and Operation Garbo they got that when I remember it correctly

It has working landing gear (code included). IIRC the landing gear code was taken from another F35 model by Axel of Sweden (which is no longer available) so credit would go to him aswell.
