The gameplay in Bioshock is okay. The story was really cool. It's a bit like Spec-Ops the Line in that regard.

Well if you think being a soldier justifies everything you do, then yeah, it is stupid.
Liten 10 Jul 2018
No, it was just fucking stupid in general.
"Here, we present you with a really bad thing to do. Also here is another really bad thing to do. If you don't do these really bad things, both of them happen and/or you are not allowed to continue the game, DO YOU FEEL LIKE A HERO YET!?"
Rinse and repeat seven or eight times and then roll the credits.
It made me feel a little bad because it made it feel like the enemy soldiers weren't just Grunt Number 76, but it instantly threw that away because you can't actually talk to them or anything and the only diplomacy you have is through the barrel of a rifle.

Exactly, thats actually what happens daily all over the world.
Also, in military training, they indoctrinate you. I am the least nationalist person in this country probably, and i despise nationalism to the core. But in there, when i was in mandatory service, in training, repeating the shit they yell at me allday long for 3 months, i was ready to kill for the country. And imagine the people get into special ops and do that shit for years, there will be no "good options" or whatever, only mission and orders.

Yes but the circumstances of the game is different. You came there to ask the garrison why they went rouge from the US Army. BUT instead of talking to them like a real human bean would, you just fucking execute the first squad you meet, and of course the rest of the garrison goes fucking hostile because you just shot their friends to death for no reason. And then after that the game bombards you with these sad stories about 'soldiers that just want to go home' just so you can feel bad about having to kill them, even though it wasn't your choice and the game forces you into that situation.

Actually as far as i can remember there is a lot of talking going on early, but they encounter some weird situations, everybody has guns, so well, first rule is to stay alive and not risk anything. It might not be perfect but as far as i can remember there was atleast no inconsistency within the storyline.
