'Radioactive' sex offender on the run
A "radioactive" suspected sex offender has gone on the run after failing to attend his trial for child pornography offences.

By Murray Wardrop
Last Updated: 8:45AM GMT 27 Feb 2009

A judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of Thomas Leopold, a college principal, amid warnings from doctors that he is contaminated with a "dangerous" level of radiation.

The 42-year-old was due to face trial for downloading indecent images of children but fled Britain after receiving large doses of radiotherapy treatment for a thyroid condition.

Southwark Crown Court heard that Mr Leopold could harm anyone he comes into contact, due to the radiation.

Judge John Price said: "Please warn officers that when he is arrested he might be radioactive."

He added: "This is not a joke."

The court was told that Mr Leopold jumped bail on February 5 - four days before his trial - to board an overnight ferry to Ireland, under the nose of police.

Prosecutor Nick Mather said the lecturer, who runs a private tutorial college called The Tutors Group in Hammersmith, West London, drove from London to Fishguard in Wales, where an officer stopped him.

Mr Mather said: "He was questioned by an officer from Special Branch as to what he was doing, and what his bail conditions were. He said he was going to visit his mother and would be returning in a week.

"He had booked a one-way ticket. He told the officer his bail condition had been varied, enabling him to make the journey."

With that, he was waved on to continue to Rosslare, said the barrister, and has not been seen since.

Defending, Jeannie Mackie, said her client was "chronically" ill and warned of the dangers his radioactive condition posed to people coming into contact with him.

She said: "His doctor confirmed that he is dangerous, in terms of radioactivity, for a period of six weeks after treatment and he had treatment on February 3."

Leopold, of Hammersmith, west London, denies five counts of making indecent images of children, and one of possessing indecent images of children, in 2006

THIS was one bet Sergey Tuganov was determined to win.

British newspaper, The Sun, reports the 28-year-old Russian man died after taking a bottle of Viagra pills for an apparent 12-hour sex romp.

Two women told Moscow police they bet Tuganov $US4300 that he wouldn't be able to satisfy them during a non-stop half day sex marathon.

The mechanic died of a heart attack minutes after winning the wager, Moscow police said.

"We called emergency services but it was too late, there was nothing they could do," said one of the female participants who identified herself only as Alina.

Medics said he most likely died from the quantity of Viagra he had ingested.

There are 30 pills in an average 100mg bottle of Viagra.

I wouldn't become so worried. According to this, it seems more plausible to put it down to this:

"Ringold said the gas cylinder probably exploded because of a low-quality gas lift. He said that some of the highest quality lifts are manufactured in Italy and the US. Ringold said that it is sad to learn that someone died because they were sitting on a chair that may have been only a few dollars cheaper than a better model. He ended with the comment:, “You only get the quality you pay for”."

So rest assured, unless you paid for a cheap, sub-quality chair, you shouldn't be too concerned.

Woman calls 911 in chicken McCrisis

An American woman who paid for a 10-piece meal of McDonald's Chicken McNuggets became irate after she was told the store was out of them. So she called 911.

Three times.

"This is an emergency. If I would have known they didn't have McNuggets, I wouldn't have given my money, and now she wants to give me a McDouble, but I don't want one," Latreasa Goodman told police. "This is an emergency."

The McNugget meltdown happened last week and ended with Goodman, 27, getting a notice to appear in court on a charge of misusing 911, according to a recently released police report.

Goodman told investigators she tried to get a refund for the 10-piece McNuggets but the cashier told her all sales are final.

"I called 911 because I couldn't get a refund, and I wanted my McNuggets," Goodman told police.

The cashier told police she offered Goodman a larger portion of food for the same price to make up for it, but said Goodman got "irate", the report states.

Goodman reportedly yelled, "I don't want a McDouble and small fry," the cashier told investigators.

Dispatchers for 911 told police Goodman called the emergency number three times and on each occasion was told an officer was en route.

"Goodman maintained the attitude 'This is an emergency, my McNuggets are an emergency'," the report states.

McNuggets, introduced to the McDonald's national menu in 1983, are sold in more than 100 countries and often are dunked in barbecue or hot mustard sauce.

At least here, the court smacked her for it, though, in the hot coffee case the woman walked away with a huge payout.

Well, the proper thing the store would have done would be to offer her credit to McDonald's. That McDonald's should have known that they were out of chicken nuggets before accepting the lady's money, then the whole thing would've been avoided. 8D

Eww. Chicken Nuggets FTL. Also, agree with Ghost that they should never have taken her money and just told them they ran out. Also, weren't there any other McDonalds sort of nearby?

I don't entirely disagree with her reaction though. She paid for something she didn't receive, and they wouldn't give her the money back. I'd go mad at them too, just not by calling emergency services.

Over here in Brazil they always say they are out of something before taking your money. Though at one time I remember one guy completely freaking out because they were out of a burger. He made a huge scandal over the thing was on the menu. The police arrived and well, I haven't seen him since.

A BRITISH man fed up with his wife's complaints advertised her for sale - and got a number of offers.

"Nagging Wife. No Tax, No MOT (roadworthy certificate). Very high maintenance - some rust," wrote Gary Bates, 38, in a small ad in Trade-It, more usually used to buy and sell cars or household goods.

Mr Bates, a self-employed builder from Gloucestershire, southwest England, snapped after his wife Donna on got on his nerves while she was watching television and he decided to place the ad as a joke.

"She was nagging me for doing something small, while she was watching some rubbish on TV. So I just thought I'd put an ad in to get rid of her.

"I didn't think anyone would ring up but I've had at least nine or 10 people calling about her. It's gone mad. There was no one I knew - just people asking, 'Is she still available?'"

The couple married only last year, and Mr Bates said his 40-year-old wife - whom he advertised in the magazine's Free to Collect section, along with some of his fishing tackle - initially gave him "a bit of an ear-bashing".

But he said: "She's seen the funny side of it now, though!"
