as good AGP card i´d recommend a GeForce 6800 GTX.
manufactured by ASUS or Sapphire would be the best...

It all depends on how much you're willing to spend, i'd possibly advise a slight hurry. with the advent of PCI express less and less vendors will have AGP cards in stock, probably within 12 months only refurbished cards will be on sale.

Good to see you got AGP 8x support. i might suggest then 7 series GeForce

this one is my favourite

if my crappy mobo supported 8X Agp i would have bought it already.

the GeForce 6800 Ultra has better specs than the 7600.
I think this is the best AGP card available for multimedia use...

The NVidia GeForce 8800 GTX is.. a Graphics Powerhouse, for lack of better words. I think it's the best at the moment, until they come out with 9800.

Only problem is that it's uber-expensive. :D

no, there are 2 other problems:

in order of 100% performance use, u have to have DirectX10, wich means Vista.
never gonna do THAT

second (or third) that he only got AGP, and this card is PCIe.

I kinda think the second / third one, would be a much bigger issue. Atm there aren't a lot of games that use DX 10 yet.

I have 2 8800GTX, they're quite good cards .

:sheep: they must be worth somewhat around my whole computer is...
though i must tell you that SLI cannot handle such gigantic performance without a gigantic loss of performance... (compared to 2x the performance of 1 GF8800)

EDIT: read your specs in "rate my specs".... How the hell can u afford that all?!

She aint kidding when she put that in the title

Her rig is better loaded then many so called pros of gaming.

Also how can you say then 6800 beat the 7800. there is a half a year development cycle between the two cards.
In the same price range this is all i could find on the seriously outdated 6800
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814141038

7600 has a 75MHZ advantage over the 6800 in terms of pure speed
it also has more pixelpipelines
the oboard memory of the 7600 is also superior on terms of pure specs the 7600 is beat the crap out of the 6800 series. for the same price range the 7600GS is the way to go.

Apparently the HD2600 (The new ATI mid-range videocard designed for Vista, DX10, and High-Def TVs) will be offered in AGP formats by Sapphire.

WTF? they gonna bring out a HD2600 GPU with AGP interface?!
thats a pretty waste of money...
AGP has not a fast enough transfer rate for this processing power.
Even my X800 with PCIe is faster than the X800 pro with AGP from the same manufacturer...

The ATI card sounds like a Lemon. impressive when you look at it specification sheet first but actual performance is gonna get bottlenecked and make you whole system suffer.

Well not really because theres alot of people who still uses AGP and cant be arsed to switch the more expensive motherboards with PCI-e Slots.

@POTP: Thanks for the link, Now...this card would be hard to find in my country :D ...Don't know if Newegg accepts international orders (which i cant afford :D) ...

Its not the problem with the availability of PCIe or AGP, its just that this card can work much faster than the transfer rate of the AGP allows...
So the card´s overall performance is slowed down due the AGP, even if the GPU has much more capacity that is not being used...

The AGP is the bottleneck. the AGP just doesn't have the bandwidth to transfer all the graphical information between the card and the motherboard. So the card will basically being doing a whole lot of stuff whoes benefit will never be realised on AGP.

Hmmm thanks for link POTP :D

Oh yeah was trolling NewEgg and found this:

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814102085

The Radeon X1650 looks like it has the same specs as the GeForce 7600GS you link POTP but $10 cheaper.

..Now Does that card have good performance just like the GF7 series??

I Know I cant afford them..yet (i think :P ) but Atleast I'm planning :P, Oh yeah...Does Newegg accept international orders? :read:

I'm not even sure if my Motherboard supports GDDR2...:read:

X1600s just failed against GF7600s. Nvidia is the king of mid-range performance cards.

ATI was never win. Sure they were good when Geforce came out with the 5 series but thats cause the 5 series sucked period. after the Nvidia 6 series ATI never really came on par with Nvidia in terms of performance.

I'm running a GeForce 2 on a Dell Dimension 4400 standard specs from 2002.

What graphics card can I get for my comp?

did a quick google and the good thing is that you have an AGP slot. so you can spend around 100 to 150 $ on a card and that should give you pretty decent performance. go for the one i suggested above.

Also up you ram to 1 gig and your system will be set for another 2 years.
