Background:
It's 9:11 AM (GMT), the time when most people are still only half way into their sleep. What a wonderful time to be awake and itching to shoot people once more. Of course, that's not quite the case.

Firstly, no. This isn't a thread asking for people to wake up at some 'godly' (lol) hour and play a Shooter which they could play later. This is a thread asking once more, for fellow ESers that play the game.

For those who don't know what Counter-Strike: Source is, I have three things to say:

Firstly, I'm embarassed that you are even on a gaming forum, let alone that you actually claim to play them.
Secondly, you're missing out, big time. Long-story short, it's very customizable and varying.
Thirdly, it's the shooter if you know what I mean. Not knowing at least of it, is a cardboard sin.

Right, so, let's get down to business. Shall we?

Servers:
A few good servers that I play on regularaly. Good if you don't have any favourites yet and have ping similar to the UK.

WOOMAPS DEDICATED SERVER @prize-play.com
88.151.144.73:27015

Yes, there's a lot of downloads. Yes, you will have to learn new maps. Yes, it's a lot of fun.
WooMaps offers new, well-made maps that entice strategy and skill. Good for playing and with active VOIPers for those of you with Mics.
The downside is that a lot of WooMaps in rotation are "novelty"; small maps based on one or two guns. Good for a while, a pain later on.
Some maps also have balancy issues. Snipers being restricted and the players that pick up AWPs lying around become virtual 'Gods'.

[JEDI] Fun Clan Server - FAST DOWNLOADS
81.19.220.24:27015

A mix of both default and modified default maps, this server is a lot of fun.
The mainly British Community almost all use VOIP and often have a good laugh over comms.
The disadvantage is that these players are quite skilled and playing against them is tough if you're not up for a challenge.
I suppose the constant chatter can also make it difficult to hear Players coming, but you could always bind a button to Mute all.

UK CLAN T22R | The 22nd Regiment (SAS)
89.145.98.23:27015

Again, a mix of both default and modified default maps.
The community is skilled and a lot of fun over comms.
The only disadvantage is that lately the server's been very quiet, don't expect anyone to be on if you join.

Modifications
Modifications require no downloading and installing of external programs, Steam does it all for you so you can jump into the fray anytime you feel like it.

Zombie Mod
<a href="http://www.zombiemod.com/" target="_blank">http://www.zombiemod.com/</a>

This Mod revolves around the stereotypical battle of Humans .v. Zombies.
The two teams spawn although they can't hurt each other, this is a small time to prepare camps and barricades.
Then, one player will randomly become the infestation. They will have to either change every other player into Zombies, or die trying.
The Zombies have high health, speed and only a knife. While the Humans have everything default except for ammo, which in most cases is infinite.
It's actually a lot of fun. Building up barricades and holding off armies of the living dead.
The only problem with this mod of course is that the zombies are very intelligent, making it hard to build a succesful barricade.

Gun Game
<a href="http://www.cagemonkey.org/forum/" target="_blank">http://www.cagemonkey.org/forum/</a>

This Mod revolves around players' skill with every weapon in the game.
Every player starts the game on a set level with the exact same type of gun.
Players level up by gaining the set level of kills with that weapon.
Once one player completes the end level (most of the time, knife only), they win.
Kills with any other gun than your level will not count, so picking up dead-player's guns is useless.
Killing with a knife however, is usually rewarded with a "level steal", taking a level from the victim and adding to yours.
A good game if you're good with most weapons, but it gets very dull and repetetive after a while.

War3 Source
<a href="http://wc3source.net/" target="_blank">http://wc3source.net/</a>

This mod is based off the popular Warcraft 3 Game and revolves around players gaining experience and abilities.
I've always hated RPGs because of their default Fantasy Genre and past-tense weaponry. However, this mod was marginally fun.
It's basically default CSS with special abilities thrown in. Leeching health, slowing down players, turning marginally invisible, you get the idea.
The difficulty with this Mod is that killing the extremely high-level players is very difficult, because they have all the best abilities.
If you like the aspects of an RPG with the fun of a FPS, this mod will be for you.

Skins Sites:
Skins are not classified as hacks or cheats unless they alter your CSS to give you an unfair advantage.
Think carefully before deciding to download. Although, most on these sites are definitely not hacks.

FPS Banana
<a href="http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/games/2" target="_blank">http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/games/2</a>

Not only an awesome database of CSS Skins, but containing a variety of CSS Information and Variations.

Counter-Strike DL
<a href="http://www.counter-strike-dl.com/source-skins.html" target="_blank">http://www.counter-strike-dl.com/source-skins.html</a>

A slightly smaller sight, with a relatively large collection of well-made skins. Easier to navigate than FPS Banana.

Skin Favourites:
I think all my skins are good, but I'll highlight a few of my personal favourites to save time.

SPAS-12 (Replacement for M3 Shotgun)
<a href="http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/8307" target="_blank">http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/8307</a>

A good skin, well made, nice animations, good sound. Just a good choice if you want an M3 Replacement.

Mk.23 SOCOM Matches (Replacement for Dual Elite Pistols)
<a href="http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/6739" target="_blank">http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/6739</a>

Finding my favourite Elites Skin was a hard-ship. I eventually settled for this. Nice, dark, some very nice animations.

Riddick Knife (Replacement for Knife)
<a href="http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/22333" target="_blank">http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/22333</a>

A real bad-ass knife. 6 Different Skins, 8 Different Animations, 2 Different World Models.

G36C Hydra (Replacement for M4A1 Rifle)
<a href="http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/18161" target="_blank">http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/18161</a>

I can't even express how much you could toy around with this one skin. 9 Variables (Each with different colours, reticles, etc.), 3 Bullet Types, the possibilities are endless. Good sound too, especially the Silenced Firing.

H&K 21E (Replacement for M249 Light Machine-Gun)
<a href="http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/4935" target="_blank">http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/4935</a>

Good skin, good animations, no new Firing Sounds. Good if you don't mind the Sound too much (and if you're a fan of the gun, like me).

P90 [Kimono Dragon] (Replacement for P90 Sub Machine-Gun)
<a href="http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/19037" target="_blank">http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/19037</a>

Another Customizable Skin; 5 Skins, 3 Bullet Types, 2 Clip Colours, Optional Silencer (with sounds), various Lense Varients. Another masterpiece by DarkElfa.

Closing Thoughts:
I hope some of this stuff has been useful for CSS Newbies and Veterans alike. It's certainly been a good pass-time for me.

If you want to get in contact for a game or two:
Steam - n0_5k1ll2
XFire - n05k1ll2

Cheers for reading. Hope to see you around.
