I can agree to that. I've recently been getting back into the Mechwarrior games again and I just forgot how awesome they were.
I'll bet you have trouble with heating problems on your Nova Cat.
My best mech is the Argus equipped with one Clan LBX AC20s with 120 rounds, 2 Clan ER med lasers, and three SRM2s with 360 rounds each.
EDIT: made a mistake in the arsenal. Only one LBX not two.

An Argus eh Grim? I do agree, that right hook will level most things, but I've got a Nova Cat that'll give your Argus a dead arm.
@Mental: "retarded Star Adder"

Oh, and if the Nova Cat doesn't scare you, I have a Dire Wolf that will. That reminds me, I need to reinstall MechWarrior Mercenaries

Very true. But terrain is hardly a problem at close range. It would be trouble if I were only using weapons with more than a 500m range but that's not the case.

One would think that, since my avatar is a mushroom cloud decked out with a Russian military hat and necktie with collar. However, I'm more the fan of MechWarrior weapons, namely the ER Large Pulse Laser. Strap on 5 or 6 of these bad boys, and link them so they fire in groups from 2 to 4, and you can slap your opponent around with little to no reprieve (this is of course if you're in a "no heat" game). Alpha strike your opponent from odd angles, and they'll be sent reeling, if not knocked over. The only other weapon that might topple it, would be the Clan LBX20. It's the equivalent to a shotgun on steroids....and then some. Yes, it's huge and takes up 3 slots, but do NOT step inside 200m if you want to keep your paint job (or limbs) intact. One will ruin your day, and two...well, let's just say the guys will be calling you "stumpy". The runner up to both of these powerhouses is the ER PPC. A blue shimmering bolt of kick@$$ that scrambles your opponent's visuals and does a fair amount of damage in the process. It throws off some massive heat, but it's one of the perfect sniper tools. 1). because it doesn't have any ammo, and 2). because you can sit and pick from 900m. It's basically and instant hit weapon, so there's really no escaping it. Just aim and squeeze the trigger.

@Grim: Yes, close range turns the terrain into a non-issue, but that's assuming I let you get close

Nuker

Stealing this thing in coop mode and giving yourself ammo as an Engineer. It was considered a prize in our LAN games.

The LBX is actually 350m range which makes it even deadlier.
Well, that doesn't mean I will always use the Argus. I've got a Thor with two light Guass rifles which have a range of 1200m. Although they have limited ammo, I still provided a few extra tons of ammunition for them but had to sacrifice some armor to fit in some medium pulse lasers in there for some close range combat just in case.

The pulse lasers aren't. Not sure if there are Clan light guass rifles though. If there are, I'm sure I put those on there.

The barrel of the SL8 looks as if it could just be snapped off because of it's length.

A fun weapon to use is the Thunderbolt missle. Sure it doesn't have a lock-on mechanism, but if you hit someone with it, (and if the mech is light enough), you'll either knock 'em over, or take off a limb. There's not a lot of them to fire per ton, but like I said, it's just a fun weapon to use.

Teh Nuker is right. There is no Clan Mini, Light or oddly enough Heavy Gauss.
But Teh Nuker is wrong, sometimes. Thunderbolts DO lock on, and are especially fun with the MeKTek wonder of Thunderbolts + Artemis and B.A.P. That is the way a Longbow should fire. If you are a rocket whore this Mech is for you. Now comes with Insta-Lock, get yours today! :rwhore:
I am so geting back into this
