This will be my last entry here on this board because I am leaving. If you'd like to know why, PM me.

Bitter Farewell

Careful what you speak
it may have a taste for you
Those who prey upon
your every word
Will be there to hurt you
when you slip

Goodbye for now
a ghost is only so stable
Careful what you wish for
and careful where you step
Trip and fall here
and you'll be but a vapor

your verse and prose is truly a thing of great beauty born out of pain and sorrow. i really feel that you write from the depths of your soul and that kind of profound expression must be applauded. your writing is very brave and eloquent and i can relate to alot of what you say. im glad i can call you a friend. keep writing man.

Its more true than you know. Aside from Nuker still posting here, alot of different things led up to something of that effect happening.

hmm. all i can say is that if something terrible happens to you no matter how bad. you must look at the situation. take a step back and assess it, then take anything positive or worthwhile from that you can and disregard the bad/negative things. it really is true, what does not kill you makes you stroner. and these words by someone who i loved greatly, "you must strive, stay alive."

life is a precious gift that you cannot squander.

Because I could no longer deny the public that reads my prose and utter mindless mumblings, I present to you the following:

Between Tear Drops and Sunshine

So maybe we can't stop the feelings that make us sad, and maybe we can't avoid them either. What is it about the rain that makes it seem like the whole world's crying? There seems to be no reason, but inside you feel like crying, shedding a tear just for the tear's sake. A melancholy morning bleeds a sunrise fit for mourners and all you want to do is roll over and hug your pillow till the day drifts away and the moon shines again. Then you can close your eyes and pretend it never happened. Dream sweetly for the morrow comes again. The dreaded thought that fills your head now beats in your chest. You can't stop the truth from cresting the hilltops, but then you remember that you don't want to. Slide beneath the covers, they can make you feel alive (though you've thought about dying once or twice). Is it so abnormal to test one's fate after turning each corner or jumping each crack? Do we really know what's beyond the horizon no matter how dimly lit or perilous it seems? Something to consider, was love ever meaningful?

Take a break and listen to the music fill the room with wishful thoughts. Glance and pray for the ones that sit near the window wishing they were clouds instead of pillows on a sill. Reality is distorted perception but a notion you can't read from a book. And all things distorted fall like broken glass and lay on the floor until your child trips and falls, my how their knees can pick up dirt. We knock, knock, mock the door, please open we're tired (oh hurry for it rains on our heads). Kind sir please help, she's taken ill and it's been forever and a day since she's eaten. We'll fix the beds and mend our wounds, but we really do need to spend the night. I promise we'll be gone before the noon bell rings, you'll never know we were here.

Looking back on us now, I never knew we danced so effortlessly the line that every one fears. We could have fallen, but somewhere between "hello" and "hold my hand" we figured things out. Put to rest now it is, just like the love I once knew.

Quite the prose that you have prepared... its alot to take in, but the more times I read it the more I gain an understanding of it.

The pain that it describes... and yet, the coming to terms with it is great... Something must have managed to prompt this.

Footsteps In The Dark

My heart bleeds tears
to paint pictures of you
with forgotten lullabies
that echo in my head

Goodnight dear princess
Hope your true love comes soon
The moon's almost full

There's always two or three ways to interpret your poems, sometimes I think more about what it says to me than what you are writing down.

Sodomy Lobotomy

Working class bear witness to an uprising
Fallow ground now lies sodden
We can't take the pressure
From so many hungry faces

Don't you see
Can't you see
We're all headed for disaster
But don't worry just yet
The party's just started
We've not yet begun to drink (how ignorant these masses be)
Make merry for tonight we die!

Swallow your pride
and we'll all get along
Now make room for the others
Check your heart at the door
and your soul to the bar
Tell us your feelings
and we'll give you a pill (all in the name of bliss)

Wave goodbye to the truths you know

i like Footsteps in the Dark alot. i dont know it just speaks to me. the last one im gonna have to read a few more times as right now im trying to figure out what you were trying to say but the deeper message is eluding me. im not in the best frame of mind tonight so ill come back and read it when im feeling better. but i will say that both pieces are to your usual high standards. keep up the great work.
best regards

Fairy Tales Need Lullabies Too

What gift is this
that begs not the question raised
An epitome of humanity
up for grabs to the highest bidder
(a lofty view we have today)

Valour is not valued
nor is value any valour

Swing a spot for horseplay
Watch the mockingbird lay an egg
This trip's far from over
Beyond those mountains
our sunny morrow lies
And under those clouds
our reality is a leap away

Good night moon

A Lost Dream Worth Forgetting

Two more steps
toward a door left standing
Open your eyes
and feel for the landing
Broken machine with no life inside
Just eternity sitting, swinging
Waiting
Aching for a chance to prove
this love's not dead
What's outside is in
and what's inside is gone

One more glance
at the child in the corner
Clutching his dreams
by their stuffed, furry neck
So ragged it is
So grand it seems
A piano's song sets the stars in motion
your body mindlessly swaying
Lulling you good night
It's time to throw the sun away
Lose yourself
and forget the part
you lost before (but could never find)

Interesting, this one plays back to me with the sound of someone in a hangmans noose swinging back and fourth in the wind.

Tonight We Speak of Nothing

Life is a strange thing
but the dreams we're given
are far more complex then the moments we spend waking
The frail mind tends to wander too far
but since the earth is blanketed in darkness
No one seems to pay attention
to its little whimsies and trips through the forest
Flashing from tree branch to tree branch
effortless as it may seem
is stirring the spirit within you
You toss and turn
and the covers they hug you tighter
The temperature rises
yet you lie sleeping
dreaming the stars away
as a sigh of dis-stilled slumber
edges from your arid lips
The nightmare knows your room
like your shadow knows the sun
and what a night this is
to have a frightful trip
Don't look now your parents aren't here
you've moved on and your house is screaming silence
Palms wet with fear
your forehead tells the tale
of ruffled pillows and saggy sheets
The night your sandman died
It's all okay now
Mommy's here for you
Lullaby your fears good night
and warm milk for your restless soul.

It's All The Same In Reverse

Time to reflect
what a simple thing it can be
yet at the same time
what a burden it extends (to those looking for clarity)

Mirrors talk for free
but the hand whose touch is like velvet
can just as easily
choke a single vision
into thinking it's a million fragments

The truth is hard to hide
even for the mute
Maybe it's better to be blind
or deaf so the dumb can't say it
Looking towards you
was never a simple task
The questions unasked
were answered in systematic fashion (what's fashion to do with this affair?)
And all along you never spoke
of crimson marks when they'd appear
Always too shy to lend a helpful hint
to suggest embarrassment away

My dear you're pale but still quite proper
You don't eat like you used to
It's okay though
No one talks to a painting of their self

===========================

Many thanks to you faithful gents who read my prose and poems and comment on their impact (even if I write with no consequence in mind).

Knowing the meaning of the poem, I quite understand a picture telling you more than you could. Like the mirror or portrait. Again, great job. :)

That last one and "Between tear drops and sunshine" are amazing. The words from that prose really speak to me and a situation with someone I used to be a lot closer with.
Somehow I know that's what she is feeling and I want to reach but I'm not sure I should.

The words you write, even if they have no intended purpose or impact, are really moving. Nuker, your work is proof of the true, raw emotional power of words.

To this, I salute you and your future pieces.

Tripping The Fictitious Construct

What's not to understand
about breakneck speed
It's life indeed
that puts friends in need

Now we're racing toward the end
blissfully unaware
and shamefully without care
Tragedy shall your name be known

Oh won't someone
make me regret waking up
from a dream that felt so real...
