Hey folks,

Here's a little contest about fighterjets. You choose who's best. I'll upload new contestants whenever I feel like it.

How can you compare the F-15, which has a combat proven history and 100 something to nothing kill ratio, to a tech demo that never saw service and never will see service.

So, F-15 wins hands down.

F-15 wins. Better radar, better system link capabilities, better missiles, better engines...

Combat proven-"ness", well, obviously the F-15, it has over 100 kills to 0 losses.

However, it is OLD TECH, it is over 30 years old now. THe SU-35 is like 10 years old, the Su-37 is just a Su-35 with TVC nozzle engines on it.

I'd still easily go with the SU-35, to be blunt, the F-15 was created before even the Su-27, and the SU-27 was a direct response to the F-15. The Su-35 is a Su-27 with improved electronics equipment, better manuverability (canards), etc. The Su-27 is just no contest, i'd like to see a F-15 perform a kulbit.

Seriously, the F-15 is proven stuff, but the Su-35/37s are simply newer. Also, the F-15 engines are less powerful than those of the Su-35 or Su-37 (and they don't have TVC), better radar? 30 year old radar vs. 10 year old radar..... (yes, american radar is better, but the F-15 is... just too old, plus the Russian radar isn't like lightyears behind). Better missiles? AA-11s (or was it AA-12), and AA-77s are comparable to the newest sidewinders and AMRAAM (hence the AA-77 is called AMRAAMski).

The Su-35 is nothing more than an upgraded Su-27, just the same as the current F-15C Golden Eagles are upgraded F-15C's from the Cold War.

The Su-35 has more powerful engines than the F-15 does, but the F-15's engine have a far longer life span.

The ability to perform a cobra or a kulbit means absolutely nothing in real combat. Ever since WW1, the dogfight has been about speed and energy. When you perform a controlled stall in the middle of a dogfight, you might as well eject right then, because you can't make yourself a better target than when you're standing still. Contrary to popular belief, the F-15 is a very good dogfighter, regardless of the fact that it was designed for BVR. There are countless reports from training exercises that show that.

The current radar on the F-15 is the AN/APG-63(V)3 which is an AESA radar. The radar on the Su-35 is the N011M, which is a PESA radar. Believe me, there is a very large difference between PESA and AESA.

The AA-10(R-27) is about reliable as the AIM-7 up the the -7M variant, which is not very good. The AA-11(R-73) is admittedly a good missile, but it by no means stands out compared to the AIM-9X. The AA-12(R-77) still uses the seeker from the R-27AE, which I mentioned was not a very good missile, but most sources say that the R-77 is about the equivalent of an AIM-120A. The F-15 carries the AIM-120C, which is two generations improved, and the USAF is currently testing the AIM-120D, which is a further vast improvement over earlier models.
