I have created this topic as an attempt to get gamers playing really good games, or at least inform them of really good games, of which are not well known. For example I was surprised that not many people have heard of Genesis Rising, and those which have didnt even give it a chance. And you will be surprized as to how many people have never heard of nor played the Dune series.

Hence post games, which you have played, and think are really good, yet are not well known, and open up gamers minds to other games besides the commercial ones. Also discussions about games would be good aswell.

I'll get it started:

- Genre` = Strategy, sci-fi

+ Dune 2, Dune 2000, and Emperor: Battle for Dune. An excellnt strategy game, which was made by the original producers of the command and conquer games, has a similar interface and gameplay. Outstanding soundtrack, good graphics for its time (EBFD rated in top 5 for graphics year released). Excellent storyline, with three distinctive factions, and in EBFD sub factions. Much better game if you have read the books. RTS

- Genre` = Strategy, space based fleet control, sci-fi

+ Genesis Rising. Good fleet based game, masterfully combines mechanics of land based army construction with fleet based war. VERY creative. Good storyline, better if you have read the comics. Outstanding graphics. Extremly large selection of units. Three distinc factions. Every unit individually upgraded with real time mutation, allowing endless strategic uses. Similar to Warhammer 40k genre` i.e. mildly gothic. Good gameplay. Good soundtrack. RTS.

Mobile Forces

When you balance the Weapons yourself, the Game is serious Fun to play. Great Maps, good Weapons, Vehicles and a funny theme ( And the best Elevator Music I ever heard! ). I still don't get it why it was so unpopular and didn't beat Games like Counter Strike.

Rogue Trip Vacation 2012

This Game is pure Gold and awesome, infact my most favourite Game of all time ( Maybe shares this with Twisted Metal, Maybe ... ) It is such an unbelievable shame that there was never a sequel. I just love this Game.

Critical Depth

Not the best ever, but also a nice Game with an interessting Story line.
Sad though that the Graphics weren't all that great, it was also quite hard to orientate on some Maps. Very challenging though.
A shame that this Game never got the respect it deserved.

I really enjoyed twisted metal aswell, E.V.E, quite good.

Genre` = Strategy, historical fiction

+ Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, most recently RTK 11. Good graphics, Outstanding storyline (in regards to historic novel which it is based). Turn based. Requires extreme concentration, and developed strategies, thinking possibly 20 turns ahead. Tons of options for troops, upgrades. City based game, i.e. not like C&C or DOW at all. Very officer based mechanics. Is primarily chinese or Japanese, however there are english patches which allow for english player. Particular and unique game. Personal favourite.

Genre`= Fighting

+ Darstalkers series. Most significant number 1 & 3 both made in the early 90's. Similar mechanics to streetfighter. Many unique and interesting characters. i.e. Vampire lords, Vampire mistresses, Galatactic gods, Chinese deamons, etc. and my fav an evil little red riding hood. simple and interesting storyline. Was made for PS1 and I think dreamcaster. Very graphic game at least MA, probly R, reason for no actual rating is that the game didnt have one when bought, due to importation.

Grand Theif Auto: San Andreas

The best of GTA serise. The story is good, charaters, missions, and can going anywhere entire San Andreas.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms : Legend of Cao Cao(Korean Version)

It's Historical RPG game and basic story about Cao Cao, who is hero of chaos. There are chooses two path way stories.
One path is true story and another path is new stroy. Also, there are three different ending.
Before begin battle, each officers can equient special or upgrade weapons, special items, horse. Many officers have
different classes. Such as Cavalry, Wizard, infantry,Lord, archer, and strategist. These can class up for each high level.
This is so good for me :P. Maybe, I will show this game sometime.

Genre'=Strategy, Sci-fi.

Ground control. Better than the sequel, and WiC (made by same company) it has a lot of strategic depth. It had excellent graphics (for its time) and even now its not too bad to look at. Gameplay was awesome, it had a slow-paced feeling to it but it would become very intense very quickly. Very unique in the way that you'd choose the units that you would drop in before hand and outfit them with their special abilities. Single Player is about two fanatical sides fighting each other with one person on each side realizing what the true goals of their leaders were. Features LONG range artillery and standard infantry/air/tanks, both sides having fairly different abilities. Was not widely popular, which was surprising considering how good it was.

Are we talking about OLD fun, not well known games or just fun, not well known games? Because the former would cause me to suggest Fury3 (written like cubed, but I don't have that on this keyboard). It was a combat flight game set in the future with the main character, or "counselor" settling a dispute between a bionic race created to serve humans but ended up rebelling. These disputes are settled with a wide variety of guided missiles, rapid fire servo-kinetic lasers, and a missile with an IQ of 3000 (which IS smarter than you, the manual says so :P ) You pilot a very fast stealth craft over the surface of a variety of exotic worlds detroying enemy fighters, weapons factories, AA emplacements, tanks, and command centers. Each world climaxes with a final battle with a ground-based boss that is MANY times stronger than you in terms of weapons and health. You often also have to be a good pilot, as you often have to fight them in very close quarters. Sound track was excellent, and for it's time, so where its graphics. :D

If thats not what you are referring to, I nominate Advent Rising. Which I'm too tired to write about right now. I'll just link to a previous topic I made about it: http://forum.cncreneclips.com/index.php?sh...l=advent+rising
Remember me? You old timers?

Genre` = Simulation, Real-time

+ Superpower series, most recently 2. An excellent simulation game, were you can pick any of the 200 so countries in the world and run them single handedly. Even countries I have never heard of were in there. You control the country through military, economy, and politics. The game is extraorinarily in-deepth, and requires personal knowledge, and very advanced thinking. The game is very very intricate, as the AI controls all the other 200 so countries, as you would, each country with its own goals, possibly changing. You can if you wish conquer the world, or if you perfer slow indeepth thinking, just run the country through politics and economy. VERY VERY long loading times, like if you thought morrowind was long atleast 3 times as long as that, however the game is old, so the loading times now are not that long. Amazingly interesting and fun. I played as Saudi Arabia for about 6 months (in reality 6 months, not ingame) and I had a monopoly on the Fossil Fuels commodity, controled all of the middle east through politics, hardly used military or Nuclear technology, except to conquer the USA. LOL I had too, I mean I was Saudi Arabia.
