As a minor question: is there a way to make the taskbar a different color than blue?
I want to make it a dark gray color, with either the same green for the start button or a darker one.
I've already tried a different them but that simply hijacks the whole system and made everything which had it's color determined by the display options a monochromatic, unappealing image.

Theres the XP silver... Or you could d/l a theme such as the alienware theme manager from their site, or another theme as POTP may direct you toward (as I see he is perusing this thread and I have heard he is profficient in modifying such things.)

Use the hacked UXtheme.dll (Prophet and myself both use it, find it in his thread). It allows you to use .theme files without additional software, and is also a whole lot less memory hungry than anything else there is.

Seconded with above post. It's much easier to use the hacked UxTheme.dll. But XP Silver actually sounds close to what you want.
