What the hell is......"anime"? Some kind of foreign disease?

lol a forign disease lol its a nick name for japanese style cartoons normaly more detailed and have a storyline unlike most american cartoon basicly the cartoon series is basicly

in japan they range from children stuff to family to adult series most them have there own unqiue storylines and plots and most are based on manga(comics).

I have seen VERY little of this "anime", while it seems to have a story to it also seems(for lack of a better word) plain old stupid. Would any of it appeal someone who likes somewhat practical SciFi, without sinking to the lowest common denominator?

infact i love scifi if you want to see truely crummy scifi look at some of the lame movies they play on scifi channel some times XD

:sh: Actually, I've seen the Cowboy Bebop series(and the movie) and I thought is was pretty good. It's the reason I ask because I was wandering if the were any others like it. All other "anime" I've seen fails to hold my interest and I want to know why on earth people like it. As for the Scifi channel movies, PEOPLE WATCH THEM!!!??? Disturbing.

Ah, I see. I'm sorry then. If you liked Cowboy Bebop, and Sci Fi, I bet you'd like Ghost in the Shell. That's probably enough Sci Fi and Badass...ness for ya. Also, people like anime because they like because they think it's funny, romantic, filled with action, it's like any other genre. I mean, if you liked an American TV show, why would you like it? I hope you see what I mean.

I'll see if I can find that Ghost in the Shell series, I think its on a channel I have. As for me dissing anime, I just can't stand that pokemon style stupid stuff and I don't like magic, HIGH TECH ALL THE WAY! That, and some time back some lowlife asked for cartoon smut , lets just say that didn't help matters at all.

just to tell you most of the time anime does have fantasy but you would probly like the gundam series too except gundam G XD

so your realy a realistic or future realistic person thats understandable but some people like some fantasy like me tho i like other stuff too infact i don't realy hate any one genra except realality tv shows wich are ovibously staged well at least most them fear factor was ok so was scare tactics

I find the whole giant robot thing a little crazy. But, if Ghost in the Shell is what BillyChaka says it is then I think I'll enjoy it. Can anyone tell if that "Cyber Brain" deal is required or you get it because you can? As far as my interests in TV go, I watch very little at all and most of that is History Channel and Fox News.

I got a chance to watch some Ghost in the Shell while I was gone the past week and I would like to thank BillyChaka for recommending it to me. It was interresting to say the least, but the thinktanks debating the meaning of life amongst themselves was a little creepy.
