Any Vista owner here have tried this? If you have, what are the improvements over the stock Vista?

for me it made the whole thing run slightly smoother, and got rid of a couple of bugs including the one where it would display 19373964 days remaining when trying to copy folders from 1 place to another (HDD to USB Flash drive).

But due to a lack of support for hardware that i need I am now back on XP Pro. Better for gaming anyway.

Wait for the full release would be the best idea, while MS do make good betas on a laptop it can so easily go wrong.

i´d recommend not to use Vista SP1, cuz it requires the usage of Vista, wich sucks ass.

Vista Sucks Ballz and so does the SP1. XP SP3 is proven to give a 5 to 10% boost in performance even in the beta stages. so i rather stick with XP then even think about vista.

And it would be nice if some of the Vista exclusives got rolled back to be available for XP (like DX10, Aero, etc.)

Due to software compatibility issue with Vista for many company software would rather switch to linux rather then Vista. XP due to corporate interest wont be dropped till 2010. Even bill gates know Vista Sucks.

That, and Microsoft normally gives almost 10 years of official support for their OSs (not including ME; supposedly Vista's getting shafted like that too). For example, Windows 98 was supported into 2007.

Also, Bill saying that on camera took some serious balls. Wonder when the next Windows comes out.

Oh, and, for all of you hating on Vista? You never had ME. Ever.

Back in the olden days most people had ME just for its native USB support, though soon after Microsoft released an SP (patch?) for Win89 which does just the same...

How bad was ME? Back when I used ME, I'm quite young (about 8-10 perhaps?) and couldn't care less.

It just, well, refused to do what I wanted it to do, and instead showed me blue screens at least twice a week....

Good that thing was a pile of crap but MS did vindicate itself with Windows XP. ME had good ideas but the implementation was horrid. System restore was close to useless and it was exploited by viruses all the time so even a full system re installation wouldn't save your ass. I use to see the shut down screen less often then the Damn BSOD.

ME wasn't THAT unstable, provided you didn't run install or operate anyting, under those circumstances it only crashed once a day.

Vista isn't as bad as ME but I'd keep my distance off both if I were you. At least for another year.

I will wait till vista is better than XP for playing games and the like. Most likely SP2 or SP3. Only then will I swap to vista. I did the same with 98. I had that until XP got decent because ME was beyond horrible. And I wasn't a fan of 2000 either.

There wont be a SP3 for Vista. Windows 7 is slated to be released next year or early 2010. Even MS wants to bury Vista as soon as possible but on the bright side MS is gonna make the next version less of a resource hog so even your current gen computers can update to it.
