The A-Team:
7.7/10

It's a fun movie that's for sure. The action is fun, the humor is fun, the plots, schemes and plans are fun, everything's pretty fun. The storyline is generally too crazy to be predictable but it still all holds together pretty well, which is good because I loathe action movies with stale storylines. You can't take this movie seriously, at all, but it's worth the watch if you've got some time and money to burn (or you could just DL it).

holy shit. christopher nolan (memento, latest batmans...) did it again. this movie is strong, intelligent and witty at times. the visuals are breathtaking and hans zimmer's score is IMMENSE and epic to say the least. dicaprio is once again the same 'grizzled veteran' type he was in shutter island but that doesn't keep him from portraying his role fantastically.

a must watch.

Yeah, it's my new 'favorite movie of all time', bumping out 'Shawshank Redemption' after 8 years of being my top movie of all time.

There's nothing to say, you need to see this movie and you need to see it as soon as possible. It will change your perception of the world and it will boggle your mind.

A dream withing a dream within a dream withing a dream.... but the most important question is: how do you know you're in reality? It's only that you awake from a dream that you realize something was strange...

Not my new favorite movie, but it was REALLY good. And it makes you think, both while you're watching it and afterwards.

The Expendables

7.6/10

A no shit action movie, just what you'd expect from Stallone. It may not be the most thrilling or dramatic movie, but it's a lot of good fun and really hearkens back to the era of cheesy action movies. The cameos are good, and it's worth a watch if you want to see any of the actors in it.

Fucking loved it, I don't think its my favorite movie of all time, but its close, great soundtrack too ;)

The A-Team 8/10

Yes its a very silly film, but its also IMO one of the funniest films I have seen in ages.

Braveheart 8.5/10

Okay so its almost as historically inaccurate as is possible, but that doesn't stop this being a highly entertaining film.

Piranha 3D 9/10
Not much of a plot but that is out weighed by the sheer amount of gore keeping you entertained. It had its funny moments but you'd need a sick sense of humour to laugh :P

Oh jeez.

I haven't seen it, but anything relying on the '3D' in the title is bound to be terrible. Not to mention how awful the trailers look... it looks like a bad Jaws rip off... and that stopped being scary twe... wait, was it ever scary?

The Grown Ups

8.5-9.0

It was a relatively decent movie, pretty darn funny in many moments. I think its meant to be a family movie, but I think its okay for everyone.
It had a lot of funny moments, I can't say that I didn't laugh, but its not one of those memorable movies such as "Bruce Almighty".

Step Up 3D

I was dragged to this movie by my friends. And to be honest. It was ok. better than I was expecting. the dancing is entertaining but tbh the music choice could have been alot better in most routines. the plot was very fragile and extremely predictable and I wasn't really expecting better. of course the 3D is totally and utterly useless. and i'll admit there was some forced humor. overall though, it did actually exceed my expectations since the actors were in general very genuine and some of those dance routines are pretty good. overall, i'd say 5/10

Hostel - 6,5/10

I discovered the word "gorno" the other day, which sounded so amusing that I just had to get one right away. I had already seen Audition which is also in this genre but still, you know. So I went for this Quentin Tarantino gorno called Hostel and yeah, I can see where the word comes from  . It is about a bunch of American tourists that start off in Amsterdam, where, as the characters correctly note there isn't a single Dutchman (this is true, as Amsterdam is a giant tourist shithole 8| ), and then moves to Slovakia where the main characters stay in a hostel - and eastern block chicks diiig American dudes. What follows is a series of events that can only be described as gorno indeed :xD: . Overall, the movie is still more comical than true horror though, especially the really Hollywoodesque ending 8| .

Machete - 9/10

I love this movie :P . It's about Danny Trejo being an ex-Mexican policeman who is obviously fond of using a machete, illegal Mexican immigrants and a bunch of Texans who like killing illegal aliens. From the very first second on there's no second of rest or respite for the viewer and it is almost Predator 2-esque in its action density. Featuring a very nice soundtrack and impressive, typically Robert Rodriguez-like over-the-top violence, the movie is an awesome watch for any action fan. Featuring the almost inevitable Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba, but also Steven Seagal (one of his very few good movies) and Robert De Niro, this movie really casts quite a few hotshots.

highly recommended :duh:

A Serbian Film - X/10 all X

I am going to need personal reassurance of a Serb that this not NOT the norm over there before I can ever look at a Serb in a normal way :P

The movie is about a porn star who gets into a an "art film" which is.. rather disturbing. The movie is excessively violent and sexually explicit and really quite sick even to a horror fan like me. To be frank, the movie is quite smart as well, though, and I have to in some way admire the director for the messages I afterwards found out were hidden in the movie - it's hard to rate the film because it is actually kind of well thought of in pretty much the worst way you can imagine. This review really mirrors Scott Weinberg's but I kind of agree with him. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone, but I'm damn sure I'd warn you not to take this movie lightly.

Ha, legitimate quadruple post :) .

El Mariachi - 8/10

It's been ages since I saw this last but after years of looking I finally found it on DVD. This is Robert Rodriguez' actual debut film, and it cost only $7000 to make. It is the little-known first installment in the Mexico Trilogy, the second and third of which, Desperado and [/i]Once Upon a Time in Mexico[/i] were MUCH bigger hits. This little gem, cheap as it is, has always had a special place for me.

Entirely in Spanish, it is about a mariachi (basically a guitar bard) in Mexico who travels around seeking work. Unlucky as he is, he happens to enter a town where a big murderer bent on revenge with a guitar case full of guns decides to take on the local bigshot - since both of them carry a guitar case, some people get confused. Simple but effective music and good filming along with nice action and good lines make for a nice mix in a movie indeed. Not nearly as over-the-top as other Rodriguez movies. I can recommend it, definitely.
