Using notepad to remove spaces or tabs in XP takes a long time (well for files 10000 lines long) but and older PC running Vista it was done in a fraction of a second, and from what I've heard the new format office files are tiny in comparison to the 1997-2002-XP ones.

-Dual Core
-4GB Memory
-512MB Graphics Card
-7200rpm, +200GB HD

Why is everything becoming "Vista compatible" if it is such a failure, for the average computer user. Vista > XP.

I have seen bloody VGA monitors carry this stupid logo. WTF!!!! Even a toaster is compatible with a VGA monitor.

I understand if it was an HDMI Monitor but its just stupid putting that on a VGA monitor because the damn output is universal and piratically anything can use it.

MS is tight lipped but they are pushing for an early release because large corporate adoption has been luke warm. Corporate licensing is their bread and butter and if those guys shift away from windows platform then the whole MS biosphere of Office, Windows Server etc etc would come crashing down.

With all respect, but even for MS it isn't possible to create an OS in about 1 year, at least not loaded with bugs. So I still assume that W7 will come 2010 soonest.
Oh and according to this here, it seems that there will be also a 32-bit version of it

Also FYI: Windows XP came out just 1 years after Windows ME and 1 and a 1/2 years after Windows 2000 so it is more then capable of releasing an OS so soon and another thing is that many of the Vista "Features" (WINFS just to name one) were cut but they should be ready to be launched to the public by now. So most of the Changes would rather be in Fixing up on Vista codes and Add these features then to actually go code stuff from scratch.

MS lowers its prices on boxed Vista in range of 28% to maximal 48%. This means, that it will only affect users, who won't buy the OEM version of it (already installed on a buyable computer).
MS had also a feeling that they screwed up the marketing, of "Vista Capable" computers. While many customers complained about the loads of versions (some even without the shiney 3 dim. operation interface "Aero"), one thing was a major fault:
