Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Soulstorm

MR.Kim's Photo MR.Kim 24 Feb 2008

It looks like more promise for me about these new fetuares. Specialy new air unit.

About new wargears, well... I don't know. Kind of little bit same for Dark Crusade.
Here are new screen shots and some videos.

Also, here is art box. Very cool. :D

Unfortunately, my game magazine said, that soulstorm will have a same campaign style like Dark Crusade :( :D

Hope they deliver more on plot though, and that they've more satisfactorily re-balanced the races.

It's the same, except it's interplanetary, not just intercontinental.

The re-balancing you hope for may not even occur. With aircraft, it'll be whoever can get their birds in the air first. I still don't like how they have the loco-motors working for the aircraft, but that's mainly because the game engine was never intended to allow for the use of such movement.

A few things are different, the one I noticed was that the Warboss no longer has twin 'eavy masheen gunz but has the same sort of "kannon" the Big Mek gets. I wonder how that's going to play out. I am actually anxious to try the new campaign since it will be interplanetary instead of just continental.

Either way I'm excited about Soul Storm. I'll be even more excited with DoWPro launches its "pro" version of SSPro :D .

Soulstorm will be great when come out.Now will have 9 races to play. And SS campaign will be little different than DC.

I agree with Nuker here. Right now, as of the beta, and FFS I know it's only a beta, the aircraft just don't feel as such. I hope this does get resolved for the final product.

17+ is the mature rating. Have you seen the amount of gore and blood that happens on screen when a Killa Kan or a Dread picks up an enemy unit? Or how about the Bloodthirster sacrificing. Have you seen the geyser of blood that erupts when the Sorcerer is slammed into the dirt? To be quite honest, the gore and blood is not nearly as bad as some other console and computer games, but that's the way it's rated.

Anyway, that's a touch off-topic. More to the point is how Soul Storm will continue the DoW/WH40k title and give players two more options as far as races go. Me, I'm still going to be an Ork (I just hope they didn't get screwed in the expansion).

I think that is no need for 17+.You watch similiar movies with blood,killing........every day.Kids below 17 will buy game anyway.Nobody cant do nothing about that.
BTW Tau rocks. And its good idea for adding flying units in game.

er....how about not sell it to them? the same way they dont sell alcoholic drinks to a underage boy or sell the porn movies?

I still dont support the air units due to how it will affect the gameplay (and i dont mean just on units but on maps too....its a killer for urban maps as they can move thro buildings)...neither do i support the SoB to get a shot in the game instead of the Nid's or Daemonhunters/Witch hunters

also what gets on my nerve is the constant change of appearance for the SM CSM and IG...

on the other hand im same as Nuker....SM and IG are the ones that i will play with and i highly doubt that will change with new factions/races/units

You mean the appearances of the commanders? I somehow like it. If they(relic) only would change the appearance of the SM Librarian. I didn't like him in the original DoW campaign. He was somehow annoying :P

The Aerial units played rather well in the Demo I thought.
All units and Defences can fire at them. And while they can move over buildings and terrain, all races will get a flying unit to counter the others (I hope, otherwise, potential major balance issues here) And I'm getting rather fed up of them changing appearances too, they reduxed the SM graphics on DC, made them blurrier. If you open up Vanilla DoW nowerdays the Space marines look Godly, particularly their bolters.

agreed...IMO of all the FC's (for those who dont know its Force Commander) the first one was the coolest....and the first CS of the IG was also pretty much well done (the voice was almost perfect for the lines and appearance)....which reminds me why did they removed all the cool voiceovers for the lines and replaced them with sum lame ones (comparison- old Command Squad and the new CS)...lets just hope they wont touch any of the Secondary commanders as they are pretty much good as they are now

KiraSama's Photo KiraSama 25 Feb 2008

they should put a random "heroe" generator, so when you will the force commander it can be the vainilla, the DC one or the new one same for the Chaos Lord and other heroes

"its just a game" is the lamest excuse evar, tell that to a cop if you sell alcoholic drinks or porn movies to a 8 years old boy
