It depends on the user if he/she likes Vista or not. I have it, I didn't like it for 2 or 3 weeks, but when I disabled that overprotection stupidity, I liked it. And most of the games I have work on Vista, one way or another. It seems that I'm an induvidual who likes Vista on this forum

Yeah, Vista feels much better after turning that UAC crap off. Many issues remain still.

The two things that people using Vista complain about seem to be compatibility and the said UAC.
About compatibility: I am frustrated myself that many good apps that ran under XP do not run under Vista, but it would be stupid to scrap innovations (like the UAC) only to maintain compatibility. There are points where you must move on (exaggarated:"We cannot force applications to do that because Win3.1 software would not run properly anymore!"). Besides, Vista has a decent compatibility mode imo.
About the paranoia: I can write an application that deletes your program files folder without you noticing and cannot be detected by anti-virus software in seconds. It will not work under Vista because of UAC. Tell me that you do not want UAC.
However, I'd like to have a Windows where Admins are Admins and users are users, not that everyone-uses-admin-so-we-just-dont-give-the-admin-admin-rights crap.

Perhaps WinMin and Vienna may make a change.

I've never had any compatibility problems with Vista, even games I've had since 1995 work on it. (Even though it has a cow when I've had the comp on for more than 5 hours. -_-")

Ugh damnit, I really don't like reading, anyways, just wait for Vienna SP2 and then upgrade to it. You should probably just stick with XP for the time being .

Windows 200 is very stable at the expense of software compatibility, especially for games. Windows XP rectified this problem, but in turn became less stable (but still very stable for a known Windows at that time ) than Win2K.
