if im not mistaken its the sulhpur in the onions, onions are used for flavouring whereas an orange can be the centre peice of a meal.... and i prefer subtle flavours to the overpowering citrus

Fail. You've missed the point totally, if I shoved your onion where the sun don't shine, you would die of scurvy. On the other hand everyone would die due to malnutrition. Unlike onions, orange zest can effectively be used in many dessert cakes. Onions, however would be like putting your hand on the table and giving Swing the hammer.

You can't use onions for dessert. Where would everyone be without

Onions are the most basic seasoning next to salt. Without onions food wouldn't be very tasty =(
