WTFH!!!
I first heard it when one of my friends tried to say it to me.
He was tryin to prove a serious point, then ended it in "sort it out brah"
My reply consisted of "dude, you're using the word "bra", you know what that is, right?"

Seriously, what the hell is up with that?
I just burst into tears of laughter when I see or heard the "word"

WORD.

It's an American surfer culture expression that developed (as far as I've been told) in Hawaii. It's used in the same way as you might use 'bro' and that is in fact the expression that 'brah' is derived from. It's just a different way of saying it, and it goes along with 'dude' in the surfer culture.

This is why I personally use it a lot. I'm a surfer.

I feel that I may have to hang anyone who uses it to me in normal conversation. After 22years, English is not that hard to speak (and yes almost all my friends are native), you don't need to invent shit like that.

I first heard it on Dog the Bounty Hunter.
He called one of his sons "brah".
I was like... What did he just call him?

I'm not surprised he uses it. Dog lives in Hawaii. The whole "hang loose, brah!" thing has kinda evolved into more of an expression that the entire local populace of Hawaii uses, instead of just a surfer term.

The way people speak English these days I'm feeling more and more inclined to unleash my massive stockpile of duck tape.

That is correct Admiral. Follow the bouncing ball, and there you'll find the evolution of that horrid form.

Same here, mate

I really hate all these trendy modern words. It's even worse in Germany were people start using more and more English-sounding words which either don't even exist in English, aren't that common or mean something entirely different. I've seen some bloke on the telly a few weeks ago and he said something like "Ich muss mal meinen food provider fragen" (=I'll have to ask my food provider). I do understand what he means, sure, but what the FUCK!? We have tons of words to describe what he means, so why the hell do we need an English word? Because it sounds cool? It's so bloody stupid! Whoever tries to appear all modern and clever uses shitloads of English words while speaking German. "Patchwork-family"? "Photo-location"? Bother this nonsense!

You can find some of the most horrible examples here.

Languages all over the world (at least the Western one) are going to hell. Here in the Sinkhole of Europe, people just don't seem to know basic grammar anymore, and consistently use phrases that are just identifiably wrong. And a lot of people actually think it's right. There's even talk of changing the official grammar rules to fit this. I mean, WTF, it's just wrong, people might use it wrongly but that doesn't justify changing the grammar rules. If shoplifting becomes a normal act, would it become legal? Please.

Well it's too bad that nobody here likes the term, cause I'm not conforming. :read:

^Actually, I was talking about the word "like", but I posted in the wrong thread. "Brah" doesn't sound nearly as idiotic, and given where I live, I'm used to it.
