I agree, mate. That thing looks so horribly out of place, it's painful.
Although, I wonder what Japan's housecolour will be. Judging by this pic, it'll be red but that's also the colour of the Soviets...

Oh God, I could cry.
In C&C 3 there was no real sense that a war was going on. The actors gave long monologues and sent you packing. This is some great news.

I have a feeling this will be as overhyped as C&C3.
To be honest, to me it just looks like average RTS #341, nothing special. EA will make this half baked, then add an overhyped expansion pack to add all the stuff they removed that they could've added normally... sure, it's called "marketing", but fucking hell EA, you're fucking rich enough already. Do something for the community for once.

I lol'd. There a few UVmaps errors, and the texture is so plain.
And...Will EA add Mazinger Z? o:

I echo that. It bugged the everliving hell out of me how C&C3 had live-action footage again but no CGI combat scenes like TS and RA2, that was the GOOD stuff.

That mech looks fake because:
1:Japan doesn't use that flag anymore.
2:It looks copied.
3.Japan would probably ban RA3 if they used that flag.
4.EA wouldn't stoop this low...(But idk this is EA.
)
5.The game is still being made..
6.Did EA confirm that mech?
Also IIRC EA said that shooting bears out of a cannon might go in but the bears might be uncontrolable and might harm your own units. Unless this was some rumour...
-.-...?

yes, i'm sorry if that was offending to anyone... it's just so that here in belgium, "made in china" refers to cheapness and non-durability. i dont believe this myself, it's just something that has grown into me and i didnt realise it might offend anyone... again, my apologies.

1. It ain't Japan. It's the Empire of the Rising Sun based on WWII Imperial Japan so the flag doesn't make sense.
2. Needs better textures I'd say.
3. Japan is democratic and open-minded. I doubt they would do something like China did at one point with Generals.
4. EA will do anything for profit but they make some good games (Dead Space is starting to rub on me)
5. Yes hopefully EA will take thier time to fix bugs and other wrongs beforehand.
6. Like TPAM said it's in an official trailer so it's a yes.
Up until now I like most of what I see in RA3 except for the parachuting bears (WTF? Too weird even for Red Alert series) and the huge dolphin which needs some downsizing. I certainly like the creativity given to the design team because I was quite disappointed with C&C3 due to its mediocre gameplay and bland generic design. However if I had to choose between Dawn of War II and Red Alert 3 I would surely go with the former.

Japan still uses a very similar version of that flag for their military, just so you know.

EDIT:
1: True but it makes sense if they used todays Japanese flag.
2.True.
3.China had a good reason to do so.
4.Kinda agree...
5.Yes with the Beta and all.
6.Strange I didn't see it...
I'll be buying RA3 plus the expansions for the sake of it also I'll be purchasing 2 language versions of it.

is it just me or does the soviet dreadnought counterpart have a big missile directly above it's hull?
CommanderJB
23 May 2008
If you mean the one forward of the bridge, it does indeed. Most likely because of the old Dreadnought which had two giganto-huge missiles on a rail forward of the bridge, though they've compromised with real-life Soviet warships a little for this one and given them one either side of the bridge (where most classes of Soviet cruiser mounted their main AShMs/Anti-Submarine Missiles, including the Kara, Kresta, Sovremenny, Udaloy, Slava classes).

I have to say that i am a bit dissapointed by Japans Mech. It looks too much like a toy.
When i heard that the Empire of the Rising Sung would have such funky stuff like laser samurais, i kind of expected a mech unit...but i imagined it to look a bit more like a samurai.
I drew up a concept which i don't want to hide:
Risingsunmech.JPG (118.2K)
Number of downloads: 13
It has three attacks. The uppest would be a rechargable Laser which shoots for a few second in a straight line.
The middle one is a sort of PDL against aircraft, missiles and infantry but only shoot forward.
And the lowest is its main attack made out of two emmiters which spawn laser katanas to slash buildings and vehicles at close range. I would also found it interesting if these thing could walk in shallow water (GODZILLA)!

It should be forest green with red accents. Although Japanese Zeros were painted white (navy), a lot of them where painted green, with a black nose, yellow pin striping and emblazoned with the rising sun dot on the tail, and wing tips (army trim). These planes also sported a white under-belly. Apparently EA "forgot" that little detail.
