I'm still going for Avast - the boot-time scan has saved my ass several times, and has also managed to get rid of viruses that have otherwise proved impossible, even with Avast in normal mode.

Avast is freaking superior. Avg got the Aids with 8.0. Serious case of bloatware.

I use ClamWin. Works well for my needs. I don't get many viruses, but it works well for my needs. Low on resources, and has a good track record of finding as many viruses as commercial products. I can't remember what magazine, but I think it got more hits then Norton, and AVG, maybe a few others. Plus I think it had the fewest false-positive detections. I don't consider a downside, but from this discussion it might be, it does not have active scanning. Honestly, I think it's useless to constantly scan. Waste of resources in my opinion.

I've used Avast and ZoneAlarm at various times, both are pretty good. I've also used Norton (free one year suscription on an old laptop)- it's alright if you don't mind the invasiveness and massive size of it.

I generall just use whatever I can get my hands on since i'm lazy, so I just downloaded a free version of McAfee off of Comcast.net since they are my ISP. I have used various different brands of anti virus before, like norton or bitdefender, etc.

Comcast? McAfee? Norton? Did you die and go to hell or something that you are forced to tolerate idiotic companies like those?
