If I recall correctly, when I was playing World in Cornflakes, hitting the top (helicopters or by a tank on top of a hill) does more damage than just hitting it from the side.

That's due to the high-ground bonus: Units that are located higher get a damage bonus, which also counts for helicopters...

I thought units on a high ground 40 degrees+ gets an accuracy bonus, not a damage bonus. The damage bonus is from the fact that top armor is weak and frail.
Then again, I might be wrong.
