After some debate among staff it has been decided that Chris and Lizzie should both receive a warning for causing flame wars on the IRC channel two days ago. Since Chris's warning level was raised to 100%, it has resulted in a ban from the E-Studios community for him.

(The guidelines for the IRC are the same as for the forums and any actions that contavene the forum rules also apply.)

Well that is a real pity, but also an understandable one. It's a shame it had to happen, but tough decisions must sometimes be taken....

Wow, that's pretty unfortunate, yet this is understandable. Actually, why people always want to start flame war? For fun?!

Thats shit!!!
She started that fight
Surely defending yourself in a fight does not merit a warning?! Defiantly not one that causes a perminant ban

Mike

this wasn't from the fight you're reffering to, even though she didn't start that one either.

also: the point of the warning level is for you to see that your on the edge, chris knew his warn was high, and the staffs tollerance for his comments was low, he should have been more cautious in his actions and not done anything that could result in another warning.

The same level of admin etc pretty much as always. The problem is is that society is relaxing it's rules generally, so members are relaxing further in the forums/IRC, and therefore expect the standards of this forum to also lower, which they have not - hence when something like this comes up it is seen as being harsh, but to be honest, the forum is being run pretty much as always - but external societies dictate for less and this is translated to some members' posts. That's the way I see it anyways.

The fact of the matter is people know Lizzie is easy to irritate, and Chris should have known his limits as should she.
A warn for both is a reasonable punishment.

And the fact that Lizzie is always involved in flame wars, is because of idiots who think it is funny to play around with her.

Lizzie and ReLaX just don't go together - two different meanings there.

But I'd agree that Chris would have been better to leave it alone once he saw Lizzie go off on one, and she in turn wouldn't have incited it all had she not. Everyone has flaws - sadly these guys have flaws that worsen each others.

Dude someone can defend himself can he? No matter what Gender you are, if you fuck around with me your gonna have it coming and Chris probably did the same. There is no shame in that.

I didn't say that he couldn't defend himself, but in a public forum is hardly the place to do so. Indeed, there is no shame in defending yourself, and had I been in Chris's position I may have have done the same, but more likely I would have brought it up with Lizzie personally. There is no shame in that either, and it saves me the position that Chris is in. Don't take this as being on Lizzie's side however, as I am in all honesty on neither.

It wasnt on the forum, it was on IRC. Not that it cares, I dont think Chris should be fed up with unprovoked attacks like that, I think he retaliation was correct although I dont know what word have been used.

When I said public forum I didn't mean the actual forum, more a natural congregation of people in a public place. As I said - fair play for retaliation but maybe a little more sophisticated....
