Yeah, check the combat arms site: "Free to Play
Best of all, COMBAT ARMS is Free to Play. What does this mean? It means you'll never have to pay a cent unless you want to. What you get at game launch will always be available for free, and new free content will be added as well! "
Also: Nexon has said they will NEVER release premium items that give an edge in combat to those with Nx Cash, all the premium items will be cosmetics, no overthetop weapons or mods or anything that gives an edge in combat.
Here's the actual quote:
nexon said:
Second, we believe that in any first-person shooter, being able to use real money to buy an uber gun sucks. It makes the game dependant on money and not skill (thus defeating the purpose of Free-to-Play), and skill is what a first-person shooter is all about. No point in competing if some new guy has a mystical weapon with magic bullets that always seem to find your head.
So, no weapons will be bought with Nexon Cash. Ever.
If you're looking for the Golden Gun that will help you pwn everything with one shot, look elsewhere, because it's not here. Skills are not bought, they are earned.
You want that new, awesome weapon? Keep playing, and you'll eventually get it. All players will be on an equal footing weapon-wise (grenades included). We make money by selling the cosmetic items — stuff like shades, different uniforms, helmets, etc. Nothing game balance related is sold in the Cash Shop, and it's going to stay that way.
You won't have to pay a subscription fee either. Every single one of Nexon's games are Free-to-Play, and subscription free. You need a free Nexon Passport to play, and that's it. If you have one already, just download the client and start playing. In addition, don't expect to be bombarded with endless ads — we don't expect you to pay not to see them. We want gun clicks, not mouse clicks.
That's our promise to the player base, and we're going to keep it."

I've seen cases of hackers you might not believe, and also i've beaten many when they tried it on me (not bragging here just stating what's happened to me), in the map "Snow Valley" i had just joined a Capture the flag game not 5 minutes before a hacker shows up killing EVERYONE in the room, (even his teammates with Friendly Fire OFF), i've seen where the wallhacker type hides (cause he's stuck halfway in the ground and can't move, but can shoot through all walls), and i made my way near him, and all of a sudden when he was firing at me, it stopped, because i figured out the hackers can't see or shoot you if you're within about 20 game units of them, and i stated to my team "i need one more down here to hold this hacker down" (my team had a 2 man advantage on them so it's not that big of a manpower deal) and when i killed him, he respawned in the same area, then proceded to start throwing grenades in his area, and somehow managed to hit me (killing me, but the 2nd guy down there kept him from killing anyone else) so we basically camped him for like 20 lives of his and he left. making it hacker-free again... (at least temporarily)
Check out my newest video on it. I've seen as many as 58 hackers in an hour before... (all rank hackers), but there's some I've caught on film over the time. (fought a wallhacker yesterday and won)
Newest vid < there's a section in there about hackers, about halfway through... also some people item glitch for some items not normally available to them. others just hack for them.
So to answer your question directly E.V.E. My experience is yes there's a lot of hackers, but no it's not TRULY that bad, just blown way out of proportion, (somewhat).

I simply don't trust them anymore, and I am not gonna play a downloadable FPS instead of say.... call of duty 4.

But anyways, yes, once you get through the beginning of MS, it becomes neccesary to use NX.

THe only good thing about CA and lanparties that I see is that people don't have to buy their own copy of the game.
That said, on COD4, you can just install it and play online without the disk, so technically one guy coul djust pass around the copy to his friends.
