Over the past few days, I've been really interested in the Marathon games, as you can see by my avatar. But I have some questions about the storyline.

1. What is Lh'owon? Is it a planet?

2. How can the terminals teleport?

3. Why didn't they ever make Marathon for PC?

4. Are there any levels taking place on Earth?

5. How could they have the money for enough supplies (food, ammo, clothes, power) for a massive ship like Marathon? It's journey to Tau Ceti took like 300 years!

6. Why is there a Spnkr Rocket launcher in Marathon if it takes place 200 years after Halo? Wouldn't technology evolve in that time?

7. What is the S'pht?

Because Bungie has already said that Halo and Marathon aren't part of one canon. Halo is in Halo's universe, Marathon is in Marathon's universe. The rocket launcher in Halo has its own designation, that SPNKR on the side is just an homage to Marathon (like the Marathon-class cruiser, or taken from Marathon and expanded upon, like rampancy and AIs in general).

It's the S'pht homeworld, and yes, it is a planet.

I assumed you get teleported by your commander via a teleportation device rather than the terminal itself.

They did make Marathon 2 for PC...don't know if it was successful or not. Besides, it's available for PC now.

Not officially. However, the mods Tempus Irae and Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge do take place on Earth. Check them out, they're both really good.

They probably made all of that stuff on board, since the Marathon was a self-sufficient colony ship.

Halo and Marathon aren't *directly* related, but it's an easter egg.

7. What is the S'pht?

Those floating cyborg aliens in the orange and purple robes. Initially they are enemies but they change sides later on. There are a more advanced type of friendly S'pht that shows up in Marathon 2.

Nice. You see, I am downloading this thing called AlephOne, and I'm having a lot of trouble. I just want to play Marathon (Durandal) on my PC. Also, a mirror for the High-Res textures and Environment packs.

I need a very simple guide. Like, simple terms. So that when I launch AlephOne, it runs Marathon.

EDIT!

So, the S'pht are those hovering eyeballs in red cloaks?

AND

I saw this concept art and it showed some really tall buildings. So, some levels in the Marathon Trilogy MUST take place on Earth (or Tau Ceti.) Or are they alien, like that big Combine Skyscraper in City 17 in Half Life 2?

Here's a link to the concept art:
I... can't find it. I'm sorry, I just can't find the picture. But anyone who has seen the picture knows what I'm talking about. It has a yellow background and takes place in a desert with a few massive skyscrapers. My question is: are they human? Or are they some S'pht temples?

Those tall buildings are S'pht in origin.

Those are Mac Downloads! I downloaded AlephOne, and it says it needs some "image" or "net" libraries from some SDL site. I don't know WHERE to put those libraries! ARRRGH`!!111~~~!!!!!!!!1

OK... Maybe I was a little angry there. I'm sorry about that. It just says that AlephOne requires some "image" and "net" libraries, and I don't know what folder to put them in. I want to make it so that when I double-click on that A1 icon, and when I click RUN on that confrimation window... I should see Marathon! Not my desktop.

You have to check the mouse control in the control options. Unfortunately, there is no jumping or crouching in Marathon at this time.

CRAP. OK, I have ANOTHER question. I'm on the level "Defend THIS!" I'm in the room where there are the elevating platforms and the four switches. Going from left to right, and numbering one to four, which ones should I hit? I hit some random switches and it screwed it up. I need help.
