The Political Compass

This website attempts to classify your beliefs into 2 of the following 4 categories

Posted Image

As we are here to discuss politics I think it'd be interesting to see where we all fall on this map.

Whilst this isn't the perfect test on a global scale it does give us an insight into where we are all coming from and might help us to understand our responses to topics.

I am:

Economic Left/Right: 2.2
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.0

PS Thanks to Alias for reminding me about the website

Strange, tbh I'm more on the right than that as for being Libertarian, that seems reasonable.

I've taken this test a few times in the past, my result has always been about there IIRC.

A very interesting little tool. Now if only I can find out what those numbers mean...

There is an option to compare yourself to other famous political leaders or parties in various nations.

Economic Left/Right: 1.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.03

Corresponds to the party I'm voting for.

Also: zomg, I'm second most right-wing economically? Oo

You know, I think I would have seen that coming, however how can a person be 'free' when their job is heavily regulated?

Probably third, I'm cynical to corporations, not idealistic to their intentions. The state shouldn't get involved too much, however people are stupid and need some sort of rules, a difficult balance.

Well I ended up considerably closer to the middle of the graph than I'd consider myself. I think perhaps that is down to the test itself. Although I am a firm believer in allowing a corporation to have some free reign. The thirst for profit will inevitably drive them to sense.

I'll cook up something graphical to show these later on.

Lol! CodeStalin and Dr. Hitler? :dope:

I can't imagine you two ever agreeing on anything though. Apart from that you are both relative extremists in economic left and right as it turns out, I haven't seen Code agreeing with objectivism very often yet.

Btw, where is that option to compare yourself with political leaders? I can't seem to find it :s .

It's interesting looking at the range of views there are here. And it looks like I take second place for "most left".

Wizard should edit his first post and add a list of people's place on the compass. Or, someone with wiki privileges should create an article on it.
