Hmm I had tried the game and must agree that after an hour or so, the fear factor does indeed get weak. The initial play is incredibly creepy though.

Same goes for any horror game really, while it might start scary eventually you either get over it or realize the best way to kill everything really easily...

Except Bioshock, cause Bioshock was awesome.

FEAR?

FEAR is a startle game. It loses it's constant fear factor after awhile, thanks to being more "Shoot shit" then "Get the shit scared out of you".
And I say this with FEAR being my most favorite FPS of all time.

its harder to get scared in a game when your an assault rifle toting, badass, highly trained space marine surrounded by more assault rifle toting, badass, highly trained space marines

FEAR?

As Yahtzee put in another review, FEAR's horror and action elements were so far apart there was a definite 'clunk' between the two. That game stopped being scary once I realized that nothing in the horror sequences could kill you...

It looks like Yazhee strategically dismembered Dead Space. lol

But yes, lulz indeed. There's a new one out that is slowly whithering down the HP of Fable II.

The expansion packs and, by the looks of it, the upcoming sequel do a better job at this.

And as Yahtzee said, FEAR's expansion packs were little more than half the levels of the original, played in a different order, with reskinned enemies.

FEAR 2 could be good, but they've made it autoheal so I'm really not seeing how that'll make it scary in the slightest.
