Some characters from my favourite anime.

Still learning. I find hair to be one of the most annoying things to draw.

A budding artist is you!

Pardon the silly critique, but your sketches make it apparent we haven't spoken in a good long while. Please keep up the fine job, as a forum can never have too many artists. :P

The one on the left, the eye thingy, I'm sure you know what I mean. What's that about?
Otherwise looking good.I think you've done a good job on the hair.

Nicely drawn characters, there. Well done. :)

That's really good! Since you told me beforehand you had drawn by reference - Remember that you don't have to get perfect results right away, though - freehand training is worth ten times as much as doing something by reference.

They really show the emotion. Nice work Stinger. I know how hard it is to do that as I draw like a quadraplegic myself.

My first real attempt at drawing a realistic female face.

I used to be one of those people who "couldn't draw faces" so I'm pleased with the results.

The change between manga style to comic book style are both consistent, they both look great man. It's really inspiring in itself to see you advance so fast in terms of drawing faces - more than I have so far as well :P

Keep at it man, I'm sure you'll only progress faster with the momentum you're getting :P

Man, those eyes are wicked realistic. Nicely done there, Stinger. What do you use to sketch, out of curiosity (pencil, etc.)?

@ Bob, I used reference material but interpreted it slightly.

@ Ghostrider, I use a Wacom Intuos tablet and Photoshop CS3.

@ General, I think when it comes to drawing women's faces, or anything for that matter, you have to silence the voice that says "this is difficult" or "I can't do this". I am in the process of rewiring my thinking thanks to one particular book (Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards).

Update:

Thanks goes to NergiZed for his previous comment (it unlocked something) and all the positive comments that I have received so far - they are the coal for my creative fire.

I've gone as far with this one as my patience allows after spending many hours refining errors I noticed when I flipped it.

The shading work you've done adds an incredible level of depth! It almost looks three-dimensional to me. There is something weird in the are where the arms cross but otherwise nearly flawless! Maybe adding a few soft lines to the face could help even more?

It was drawn from a reference picture and then interpreted.
